Howdy-
I was up in S.L.O. yesterday at the factory and was lucky enough to play some of the new two PU sterlings and stingrays and wanted to share with you.
WOW!!!!
they surpassed my expectations-
the first one I played was the SR 5 HH--
I am a long time SR5 guy--(late 80's) and have a long time love for that instrument-
well dang if I didn't get my mind blown-it's more than the sum of it's parts-
the first thing i noticed was how much presence there was. It is SR tone and more.
No weakness on any string.
I love the 5 way switch. My favorite is position 4 (bridge side being 1). But having the option for back PU only (pos.1) or front only (pos.5) is super cool. Pos. 3 is both and is blazing. I like pos. 2 and found that a little bass eq added gave me what i like.
The 4 strings are equally cool with slamming tone and super presence. Again i found the 5 way easy to use while offering all the options I could want for tone.
The EQ on all the SR's is great and offers all the shaping and coloration that I could ask for.
The StingRays are happening!!!!!!;-)))
Then I tried the sterling HS---man what a tone. First off, that presence thing was talking big time. I was blown away by the single coil and what it added to the sound.
All you sterling fans --get ready -this bass is a Mutha'...........
Congrats to BP, Dudley, Scott, Brian and the rest of the gang !!
thanks for the chance to give my feedback
happy holidays----- whoops I mean merry christmas etc................
