I had a rectoverb head with a 2x12 rectifier cab (traded for the Luke that's on order), it was an amazing amp, the only thing i don't like about the single, double, tripile, and rectoverb is that the clean tones SUCK, the rectifiers excluding the road king were meant for one thing, Distortion. This was also the first head and cab config i ever owned, and honestly i didn't care that much for it, i would much rather have a 2x12 combo anyday. Also i personally wouldn't get anything over 50 watts (tube watts) solid state watts is a little different, but that's just me. Adjustable wattage is an Awsome feature also.. Good Luck at what ever you decide to do..

I've got a XXX 212 combo and I love it! The 5150 would be sweet too. I bought my XXX new, so it was about $1000 back almost 3 years ago, but you can buy used for much less. You can buy the 212, then another MM guitar, and if you need more headroom, buy a 212 to extend the combo to a half stack later. That is what I did and i've been happy. And actually, I RARELY use the bottom 212s... Combo is the way to go, but the XXX ways almost 90lbs. That is the ONLY down side unless you are a strapping lad like me... ha! Apparently that is common with Peavey amps...

i tried the Kranks @namm and was very very disapointed with the whole organization,the sales team didnt give a **** and the amps sounded sterile as hell,personally i was never a fan of tube amps that sound like solid state

Nope, looks like I'm scraping the bean can again tonite.

By I don't have a job, I mean I don't have a job that the gov't cheese knows about... I do make money to sustain myself, but I don't have a 9-5, so saving for gear is a big task, and when I have the money I need to make the wise decision. I've decided to keep my eyes peeled on the bay for the next few weeks and see what kind of Mesa goodies pass by. I'd like to get a nice rack started, but to be completely honest, I have no idea how to even hook that stuff up, much less program my own tones effectively, so that wouldnt be the best decision for the moment. I eventually want to check out a Triaxis and some conditioners and delays and that stuff, but what good is that if my playing doesn't support it? So I'm going to get a mesa set up of some kind, either the Express 5:50 or whatever else I can try, and I'm pretty much 100% on a 2x12, it sounds like it would be perfect for what I need.

So thanks again for helping me decide, you all rule.
