For some reason, I just don't recall ever hearing the Dregs, although I've heard their name for years. I must have grown up in a bubble. I also like what keys add to music, but I'm not sure about the violin thing. I do like the sound of big lush productions - especially the blending of symphony orchestras with electric guitar leads. Call me biased, but I think the guitar should always be out front. ;) Is this what we are talking about, or a single violin kind of thing?

On the Lukather side of this thread I just picked up my first CD's - No Substitutions and TOTO 25th Anniversary Live in Amsterdam.

No Substitutions made it in first
Kudos to Mr. Carlton as well.

Amsterdam will go in tomorrow - any opinions as to its overall representation of Luke's stuff?

I had originally first heard Toto in high school with Hold the Line - then came the pop/radio stuff off of IV Rosanna / Africa. I never really got interested in the group and, until joining the website, didn't even know they were still around. I had always heard that Luke was one THE studio guys and would see his name pop up on things but didn't know much more about him.

Hope this leads to a better re-introduction and appreciation of his playing.
