How do you like the tone of this bass compared to your others EBMMs? I am considering this pup config (Hss) or maybe the standard HH. I have read in other threads that the HSS sounds a little different because the H pup is closer to the bridge, and not exactly on the sweet spot.

Love it using middle pup in passive with tone rolled nearly off ! My favourite is H and middle active

Not quite, when I want a single H sound I grab my sr5. But what does blow me out of the water is the single H in active series mode it's it growls like an angry bear.

That top's fantastic - is the 2nd pic with the bass sat on a chair as per Craig Young? I must admit I've been influenced by this technique as well.

Great pics.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. The weather being what it is and the first of the month and all. I am sure your sr5 with your right hand coming down on it makes a mighty crack! Both basses would sound killer in any studio. Tear it up!

While I don't record with my bass -- I do have a nice JBL 4312 monitor system that I play along with. For fun, I routed the 25th 4HSS (with bass driver DI) through the monitors and discovered that this bass sounds wonderful in a recording/playback system. Sounds better in that set-up than through the bass amp. Lots of texture, overtones, and expression coming through.

DTG, do You record with this beautiful 25th using passive mode?

I ask, 'cause I'll have some studio recordings to do soon, just waiting my RX 5 HH to arrive, so I was wondering how it sounds passive in the studio? ;)
