Awesome tales, Sterling, and as at his recent White House performance, Sir Paul didn't seem to use no stinkin' Bass stand either-

IIRC he just THROWS that Hofner to his tech----:)

Great stories. BP you should send a Big AL to Sir Paul ;) (only because we don't want a Bongo to take the spotlight away from him :p )

I watched Craig's video and tried to play along as he scanned the sheet music but I just got queasy and threw up my breakfast.

This has to be one of the best threads - eveh.

Although....I'm feeling this urge to go home and pull out a bass, play Strawberry Fields, and cook some tacos.

........The great thing about Sir Paul was that if you got backstage it meant something. Quality time........

this hurt. i was doing a record with rusty anderson, sir pauls guitar player, a few years back, right before they launched a tour. rusty got me all access backstage passes and front row tix to the show. a week before the show, my dad called from california and shockingly said "son, im sick". that was a earth moving statement to anyone who knew my dad. so i hopped on the next flight out, and stayed bedside night and day for the end, which came a month later. i know i did the right thing, but man did my pops have poor timing!!!!

Sux man, and there is no good timing.
I had the priviledge of caring for my Dad for his last 2 years before he checked out at 97 years...Legend has it he told Patton to *&$^$% himself; I believe it.
Miss him.

Sir Paul is still hitting it; I'm betting you'll meet & greet in your lifetime-

Well, I remember his spin on it was that since they were in combat, with a REAL good chance of getting KIA, like about 80% of his fellow troops were, what could a General possibly do? Write him up for insubordination?

Allow me to repeat something Dad told me when I asked him what it was like landing at Gold Beach, and being in combat overseas:
He told me that he saw whole cities leveled, and he said that-

"I always thought that Man's purpose here was to Create; not destroy".

Wow. Sorry for the buzz-kill; just kinda hit me since he passed last November.
RIP DAD.Miss you.

Hey- Awesome Reflex!!
