Incoming Classic SR5, I cannot resist

I really loved my Classic SR5 already, but I am discovering I am more of a maple fretboard kind of guy. So, after finding a loving home for it with a fellow knucklehead, I gave in to temptation and have the following Classic SR5 inbound at this time.

If it arrives by Wednesday I'll be playing it at our happy hour gig that night. If not, it'll debut the following Saturday.

Usually if you watch these amazon deals.. Once they start falling they keep falling until they only have one left. That is a good price, but if I was in the market I'd wait. It will probably hit $1200 in another week. Unless they only have 1 then it will go right back to regular price.

WOW!! I've had my eye on this exact setup. I just love the blue with the white PUP & Guard. Wish I was financially able to pick one up. Without the sales tax, and free shipping because my wife is a PRIME member makes this VERY tempting!

Great Bass SB,
I have a Tobacco Burst/Flame Maple CL SR5 that is just awesome and I love playing it (hence my pulling the trigger on the new PDN Gilded SR4 recently).

ROD Trussbroken gave me some very interesting information about the CL SR's 2 way tone controls on another thread a week or so ago.
He stated that the Bass control is a boost only, so wound to the off position (least bass) is flat and the Treble control is cut and boost so with the control in the middle of it's travel is flat.

With this info I had the best gig ever with my CL SR5 and I hope it helps you also (if you didn't already know this

I finally got around to gigging the new Classic5 and I have to say, I really like this bass a lot. It's pretty aggressive and I had to roll back the treble to tame it back to a level similar to my 3-band Sterlings. But it plays like a dream and sounds great. Here are a few pics from last Saturday night's gig.

Yes, I took the mutes off the bridge. When I was setting up the bass to the action and relief that I prefer, the mutes were too thick to get the saddles down low enough. Rather than fiddle about with trimming them, I just decided to remove them for now.

I'm lucky with mine - the G almost touches the mute at the action I like - but not quite!! However I have them wound on anyway for the moment - the thuddiness suits the 60s music i'm using the bass for currently.

These pastel colours look great on the classic Rays.
