Hello there,

I would be most greatful for a build date and any info about my trusty ol' Sabre. The SN is 26959. The saddles are hollow. The switch is a 5-way selector. It has two regular-sized humbuckers, plus a third J-sized Bartolini at the bridge position.

I was told this third pickup was custom-ordered from the factory. I do not have reason to doubt this because the hole for this pickup was cut perfectly, including a small cut into the edge of the pickguard. Is such a third pickup an uncommon option?

Thanks again!

Hey My Sabre is sn BO 22909 and it is a 84,If that helps in any way.Does your sabre start with a BO prefix??? As far as the third pickup,i dont think musicman(ernieball) would install a Bartolini from the factory,At least i never heard of one. Nise Bass by the way......I love the tone i get from mine it is translucent red with a clear pickgaurd absolutely a tone monster...

I am fairly certain they do. I know someone who has a 79 Stingray with 2 Bartolini Jazz Pickups, and as far as I can see and he knows it was orderd from the factory.
