Information about MM Silhouette 20th anniversary

Thank you. According to all the precious info you provided i was able to negotiate again the price of this silho....the seller reduced it to euro 1000. Do you think it is a good deal even if pu are not original ?

Eventually do you think it is difficult to find the original pu and restore them? How much so they cost?

I'd say contact customer service (shoot them an email), see if they'll sell you a pair of pickups. Can't hurt.

And if you can't get them from EBMM, you could contact DiMarzio and ask what would be closest to those pickups.

The pickups are DiMarzio Virtual PAFs -- neck is BHN96 and bridge is I think BHW97. I recently asked EBMM if they had any leftover for my second Silo 20th (the one with the floating Floyd mod, which the previous owner swapped the Dimarzios bridge for a Duncan) and they said they do not have the pickups in stock.

If you add the covers, make sure you ground them (usually by soldering to the pickup backplate).

As Dibart77 already mentioned..EBMM does not have these pickups anymore! Go to Dimarzio first!

I thought the original pickups for the 20th sounded really great in the guitar. But, I am confident you can find something pretty close out there. Dimarzio would be a good place to start.

Just throwing this out there.... I would even consider the Gibson 57 pickups. I recently put one in the bridge of my other Silhouette (Special) guitar and love the sound of it.

Either way, I think 1000 euro is a great price for an outstanding and rare MM guitar.

Probably the PAF 36th Anniversary

I think the Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAFs were used in the 25th Anniversary Reflex. I did a side by side comparison between my 25th Anniversary and an Axis SS with Dimarzio 36th PAFs installed. The sound was almost identical.

Personally, I love the sound of the 36th Anniversary PAFs. I have installed them in other guitars over the years.

Looking better at the pictures it looks like the pick ups are dimarzio paf . Are these the ones which should be originally fitted in the silho 20th anniversary? If yes the only modification this guitar had is the single coil split in the tone knob....so not too bad

The 25th Anniversary pickups are the same as the Reflex, HH Gamechanger, Albert Lee HH, Axis, and EVH guitars - custom DiMarzios not available to the public. DiMarzio say the Air Norton and Tone Zone pickups are the closest match.

I'm 99% sure (and happy to be corrected if wrong) that the 36th anniversary PAFs have never been stock in any EBMM guitar.

Now, of the currently available DiMarzio pickups, the 36th Anniversary PAFs are probably the closest match to the original stock 20th Anniversary Silhouette pickups, which an old thread suggests were the Virtual Hot PAF bridge, and Virtual PAF neck.

Sorry of I missed something but what is it in the pictures that makes these look like DiMarzio PAFs? There are a lot of Dimarzio humbuckers that are visually identical.

Hi all
At the end i purchased the guitar. It arrived a couple of days ago....what to say....simply awesome...the body finishing is amazing....the neck is gorgeous...one of the best neck i have aver played....it made me play better (yesterday night i felt like a guitar hero 😀😀). The Pick ups are very nice and warm....not as high output as the jp6 ones...is this normal? However i am very happy!!!

Congratulations!

The original PAF pickups are low output humbuckers, so yes, much quieter than the JP6 pickups.

Thank you!!! They also have a twangy sound (....similar to a single)..isnt't it?
