Input jack cutlass HSS

Hi All,

So, I have a cutlass HSS and the input jack keeps getting loose. The other day when I went to plug in it didn’t work. Changed the battery, nothing. So I opened the input jack and a green wire and a black wither hare disconnected. I can’t see where they belong. Anyone have a diagram or some advice on this?

Green is output ground which goes to the jack sleeve terminal. If black comes from the battery negative it goes the to the ring terminal on the jack. White is the active output and goes to the tip terminal. Anything else goes to a ground terminal.

Send me a private message with your email address and I'll send you a schematic. But you will also have to solve the issue of the jack becoming loose. If the jack barrel is spinning around in there (often happens when people try to tighten from the outside without holding it still inside) that's probably how the wires break off the terminals.

One of my absolute favorite little things about the Valentine is the way the input jack is installed. Every single one of my other guitars has some stupid little screwed nut assembly thing that eventually comes loose. The jack design on the Valentines is rock solid. I wish all guitars were like that.

Never had the jack come loose but have had an issue with the jack itself. The spring tension sometimes weakens on the long barrel jacks and the signal will cut out. I replaced it with a new one without the switching feature when I modified everything using a new pick guard and passive pickups and it's been good for almost 5 years now BUT is now showing signs of wear again. It's starting to cut out a little here and there so now I'm thinking I might modify it again with a standard Switchcraft jack. Unfortunately the hole will probably need to be enlarged so the bigger diameter jack will fit. It will most likely need a new bigger square type jack plate thing like a Tele but not recessed. Wish me luck - it sounds difficult.
