I tried contacting Ernie Ball to get some answers since I use this product a lot on my guitars and I couldn't get an answer other than they would try help obtain some left over product from one of their dealers. I ordered and received four large canisters last week. The dealers that have this product on back order are telling me the following which has me really worried:

"The reason that I was given was that they were having problems with the product. They would not tell me the exact extent of the problems but I was led to believe that it had something to do with potential damage to finishes of instruments."

The real reason...

Don't worry guys, there is nothing harmful about the existing wipes out in circulation. The main issue on the large cannister is that they were drying out. Our factory is in the desert and during the summer months they are subjected to extreme heat at times during the inbound or outbound shipping. Just adding more solution wouldn't solve it as then other times of year you would have a wipe so saturated you couldn't use it on your instrument. Also, most gigging musicians prefer the smaller can as they fit in their gig bag or case while the large ones do not. The larger cans are more ideal for the shop owners, but these are really marketed for the players. We have a few things that you'll see or hear about at the 2009 NAMM show next month. You'll still get the same bang for your buck with higher customer satisfaction! Stay tuned!

I bought a large canister, used one, and when I came back a couple days later for another, the wipes were dried out. Dry to the bone.

That one wonder wipe was indeed wonderful but I wish I bought the small. :D

Atleast they are aware of the problem.
