Well here’s my story… I was born at a very early age… wrong story.

I’ve made my living playing piano and sax (and now wind controller, since sax was making me go deaf) for thirty years, and I took up bass guitar only a couple of years ago.

The bass was sort of my mid-life crisis pacifier. I’ve always loved bass and always learned the bass part first when learning new songs. I regrettably HAD to play keyboard bass in a few situations, but I didn’t like it and won’t ever do it again.

I bought 14 basses and a Bass Trainer, Beaver Felton bass videos, took a lesson, after seeing Dave LaRue at the open house signed up for more lessons, and I’m having the time of my life!

I Love the bass and hope to achieve the level of “don’t suck too bad” before I die.

Of those 14 basses the last three are all EBMM’s, I’ve found THE bass (‘s)

Cello for 8 years (aged 8-16), in a large youth orchestra.

Nuthin until aged 21, then Bass since (I'm 34 now).

Want to try upright and have a hankering for a trombone (I'm a Ska fan).

If you have played cello and bass would be pretty simple (ish) to make the jump

That's what the youth group praise leader told me when he got frustrated with the bassist's chronic tardiness.
"Hey, Sam. Didn't you play cello? Try the bass - it's just like it!"
:p

Needless to say, I got hooked!
