There was an auction for a F*nd*r J bass with that kind of neck a while ago. I popped by a F*nd*r forum and asked about it (To ask about the fretboard, nothing else! Please, no demerits!). It's cool, but it turns out it's not worth the hassle. ...And at ~500 pounds sterling (~$1K US), I agree!

I can't imagine setting the intonation on that thing, or how you can have it "close enough" up and down the fretboard with a magnetic fretboard.

But, I also imagine "How are we going to keep the intonation with a magnetic fretboard even remotely accurate?" would have to be the first question anwsered when designing such a system. So, who knows?

Could be cool if you lived in such a way that you could only have one bass. Nomadic Motorcyclist springs to mind, but I don't know if there is enough money in it to afford a $1000 aftermarket neck.

Hmmm.....

Magnetic fretboard....sheesh, you don't think that pulls on the strings and ruins your sustain do you? IT'S CRAP.

If that really works I'll shut up and be happy for a decade
I must admit I seriously doubt that it works well .. I agree with the earlier comments
