i would charge at least $175 usd for shipping...that way you are covered for materials, time and postage in most cases

there are some instances where you may need to charge more. i have shipped 3 guitars to europe and the have all been different

best thing to do is pack it, take it to the shipper, get it weighed, and estimated....THEN charge for your shipping.

What? Thats nearly $275 at the moment with current rates? It should never cost that much unless you specified next day delivery and insured them for millions?

Mind you that was 3 day priority service.

Be careful with USPS. When they hit the UK they are handled by Parcel Force, who are known in the mailing trade (I used to be in that buisness) as Parcel Farce! I would imagine you would like your guitar in one piece when it arrives!

I've had two guitars shipped from the U.S. to Australia with a company called APX. I think they are a division of DHL. They were great, lots cheaper than any of the other companies around. Don't know how it would be for U.S. to U.K but they may be worth trying out.

Parcel Force are the equivalent of USPS....neither one is any good although they both provide a fair service. Just sent my old Peavey Wolgang to England from Ireland next day delivery with Parcel Force with no problems!

Well
USPS is fine.
The guy is whining about import and vat though and will only refer to me as "mate"?
Anyway, I reckon with price+shipping+tax+vat it is STILL bout 500gbp, darn cheap for UK.
No worries though.
Other fish on line, just got reel one in :)

some people will try to get you to put a very small declared value on the customs papers...it gets broke, you are both screwed!!!
