It's in certain people's nature to be jealous of gifted individuals and for that they are negative towards them. As 73h said those people don't really matter.

I wish folks would just imagine themselves standing in front of the person they are writing about and saying it to their face with their own voice. If you wouldn't do that, why in the world would you write it??

Yes, everyone can have their opinion. However, opinions are like asses. Everyone has one. And most of the time, sharing your opinion when you aren't asked to makes an ass out of you. I feel for any/all artists. They are all moving targets in the crosshairs of the careless commenter that needs to spout their opinion. It's like a sickness.

He or she is entitled to that opinion. I get that. The bad part is posting it on Luke's page followed by the snide comments. Luke is a very gifted musician and an all around super cool guy. Vai and Satch are as well. It doesn't make sense to me why people do it. Kinda like taking a self portrait in the bathroom with a guady shower curtain as the background. I just don't get it.

I stopped getting annoyed with the Youtube crowd who never left their bedrooms with a guitar but have an awful lot to say years ago. You name the player be it Hendrix, Beck, Vanhalen, Petrucci or anyone you can think of and you will find remarks like "They suck" by some nit wits. The best is that 95% of the guys who post comments like that have 0 videos or recordings of themselves up.

I saw G-3 with Satch, Vai and Yngwie at the Beacon 4th row center back in 03. I was never a fan of Yngwies music and could never listen to more than two songs in a row. Satch was the player I really was looking forward to see as I was also most familiar with his music as well as a big fan. But till this day and from the first note he played Yngwie totally blew me away and is still the most technically gifted guitarist I have ever seen live. Talk about witnessing the most dazzling display of fretboard wizardry you have to see a G-3 show. In fact Petrucci also came out and did Summer Song with Satch as I remember he had just cut his hair really short, as well as Neil Schon also being a guest. Till this day I still can't listen to more than a couple of Yngwie songs, but I would pay to see him anytime!

There are not many guys who can perform on this stage nor at this level of playing. I remember an interview with Satch and Vai talking about how a lot of known players who have jumped on stage crashed and burned lol. I would not let some pimple faced teenager who most likely can only play a few bar chords and never left his bedroom get anyone upset.

I would find it ridicules to even have to defend Luke, a guy who has played on close to 2,000 recordings as a session ace which is the hardest guitar fraternity to crack to begin with. As well as being in a multi platinum selling band- Toto and a 5 time Grammy winner and still going strong as ever with a solidly booked schedule for this year. It would be fun to let the guys with the stupid comments actually get to step on the stage with such insane talent to get smoked, but why bother as they would be a no show any way.

I edited a bit of your post (no offense intended)
You have three of the best guitar players to ever live,

Luke has recorded on like 600 records.

Vai is an absolute original and total master of his instrument.

Satriani created a whole new genre.

You eloquently crystallized my thoughts on the matter.
And that is why I have enjoyed all the G3's I have seen.

I got to see G3's with
Robert Fripp
Kenny Wayne Shepard
Petrucci (With LaRue and Portnoy) (I got to go back stage for that one and meet LaRue and Satch. The pictures from that are here on the forum and I will treasure them always)
and Yngwie

Those guys are so good, Hell, they could show up with kieth and I would still pay money to see the show. I just wouldn't worry about the opening act so much. I can only take so much of the twelfth fret.

Keith...your comment just reminded me why I don't drink anything while I'm on the web. Wouldn't want to get Coke all over my keyboard and screen. :)
Thank you for reminding me that Kieth was suppose to be funny.

Wasn't that Norm that wrote that?

Good one Guv'ner.

I undersand that people are entitled to their opinion...and yes taht is why Luke is off his facebook...he deeply cares and takes these things personally.

I was just comapring it to seeing a pic of three master artists...lets say painters...all holding all three holding a paint brush with red paint on it and from that one pic being able to critique the painting that came later...

I have tremendous respect for Luke and he's the sole reason I took up guitar in the first place. I have been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times, and he is indeed a nice fellow. I'd say It's a shame if he has quit FB due to the petty remarks of a minority, when most have been pretty cool, But like BP said, he is a sensitive and deep person and is bound to be affected by that kind of thing. Plus putting yourself out there like that is like a green light to those people. There are some cruel people out there why find it so easy to critique everyone and everything whilst hiding behind a computer. Ultimately opinions are just that. I just prefer mine distilled.

The internet breeds brave people who in reality are just cowards hiding behind a monitor in their parents house.

how's about we re caption the photo our darn selves?
I looked up Luke's facebook page and found a couple of G3 pictures.

All I could think was "Perfect Harmony"
At least that's what it looked like to me anyway.
