Very very very nice bass David. These fretless EBMM's sound so good and the unlined fretless LOOK so good I've ripped the frets off my no-name junk project bass to see if I can do the fretless thing. If it works out I'll be getting som major big al fretless GAS

Question then...

How does the single-H Big Al compare to the single-H 25th/Reflex?

That's exactly what I would like to know :D but wait first Reflex to become a real thing, or You want to disturb some ghosts around here, or positive vibrations! :p

that's a sweet bass!

In the ongoing competition for "best fretless bass ever" (it's definitely a MM) ... a new contender, taking on the Bongo HSp fretless, the Stingray fretless....

I am taking it out for it's first gig tomorrow night. I will have some gig pictures of it soon.
So far this bass has lived up to every aspect I had hoped for. The tonal possibilities have been unlimited. It plays great. I haven't had a lot of time the past couple of days to really sit down with it and dig my fingers into it. But I am taking some time this afternoon to explore it some more. I am going to take some better pics of it and post it on my photobucket page. I will post the link later today.

How much does it weight? I expect it to be quite light without the frets and with one pickup only, I only want to know the weight so I can compare it with my BA5SSS when it comes in August and see how much weight frets and 3 pckups add to it.

Thanks

I don't know if there is really any correlation that you can find here. Don't forget--to put those pickups in the bass, they have to remove wood. And, the pickguard has material removed to make holes for the pickups. Nevermind that two pieces of wood can vary wildly in weight. So, if you "only want to know the weight so [you] can compare it with [your] BA5SSS when it comes in August and see how much weight frets and 3 pckups add to it," I think your premise is ultimately flawed.

For example, here's a 5 string BigAL with SSS and frets and it comes in at 9.7 lbs.

The Perfect Bass - Bass Guitars, Amps, Gear!

This one weighs 9.9 lbs.

The Perfect Bass - Bass Guitars, Amps, Gear!

So does this one:

The Perfect Bass - Bass Guitars, Amps, Gear!

The four strings with listed weights go the opposite direction:

The SSS models listed at The Perfect Bass show up at 9.9 lbs, while the two single H models come in at 9.0 and 8.8 lbs. So, I think it comes down to the wood more than the electronics.

I am starting to wonder after looking at the weights of all those basses listed above if my digital scale is off. I think I will bring mine to the Post Office and have them weigh it for me to find out.
