or does the wood on this nexk look weird? I see no birdseye on the neck (front or back), and the neck is unusually/peculiarly dark:

The fretboard looks really, really dirty. and yah the neck it's self is very discolored.

It does look as if it has at least been re-finished. There's definitley a poly sheen/reflection in the back shot photos as far as I can tell. The front is grungy enough to hide something but I don't see any birdseye in the clean spots either.

The colour of the neck is not that far off my EVH. Maybe, like me, the seller had never re-oiled it and has a bad case of toxic sweat?! Also I remeber when I was first in the market for an EBMM, the first EVH I played had a completely plain neck like this one.
