ok no matter what i do i cannot get the string 6-3 to stop buzzing on frets 12-22
the neck from fret 13-22 seems to be raised which to me seems the only thing that can cause something like this. The strings are almost inaudible when amplified. I think i might have to send it to Dr. Jon see pics below

Larry, I'd say it just needs a setup, have you changed string gauge? Because the necks are unsealed they will be more susceptible to climate change. I would not stress too much but the experts will be along shortly.

Hmmmm, what do you mean inaudible when amplified?? Meaning there is EXTREME buzzing coming through the amp, or the strings sound muffled, dead? What I notice is that the neck seems to be shimmed a good amount. Did it come that way when you got it? Have you always had this problem with the strings?

what do you mean inaudible when amplified? Extreme buzzing where as all is hear is buzz no pitch

It did come like this but i bought it brand new from wild west guitars

Ive had it for less than a month so the honey moon stages are over and when im starting to really play it i noticed this i have done nothing to it

it has ernie ball slinky 9's also it has been setup professionally and he has told me he cannot get the buzz out no matter what action height is set

That's interesting that a professional set up guy cant get the buzz out. Did he mention at all that there is a problem with the neck? Because if there is one he would/should have told you and if there is none he should be able to get rid of the buzzing to a normal level. Of course there is going to be slight acustic buzzing almost no matter what, but "inaudible" buzzing through the amp is kind of insane. Sorry to hear this, and I hope you can get it resolved. I guess you should send it over to Jon then. Good luck man!

i know a slight buzz will always be present but for what it is now. It is not a setup issue also no matter how high you raise the action it still buzzes at those frets mentioned above. Also maybe Jon could look at the pictures before i ship it so he could say wheather or not he needs to "take a look at it" also how would EBMM fix this replace the neck? Id hate to loose this neck its got such nice birdseye:cool: but whatever has to be done has to be it doesnt matter what it looks like its all about sound right?

It does appear like there is a significant shim in there. Are you the original owner? I've put a small shim in my EVH and the angle on it appears nowhere close to what your pictures show.

My guess is that it just needs a good set up. I really can't tell anything from the pics. It takes some tweaking to get a guitar with a Floyd on it to play great, as there is no individual saddle height adjustments. This is one of the reasons I never liked the Floyd. I have friends who swear by them, but I swear at them.:D to each his own, but if you want to send it in, call customer service and get an R/A # and we will check it out.

Well if you send back to EB and it's only needs a setup I'd be asking for my money back from the other guitar repairer. Any one experienced in guitar repair should be able to correct and if not diagnose the problem.

Sorry if this is redundant, but non-recessed Floyds need about a 2-degree angle in the neck pocket to make everything jive, which would probably account for the angle you're seeing.

From your pics and your explanation, it sounds like you ought to follow Jon's advice and let them take a look at it.

Good luck!

Smart move. My Luke is making it's second trip in a month back to EBMM for a headstock issue. Jon's last setup with .010s made all the difference in the guitar for me. I can't wait to get it back.

HELP ME TOO PLEASE:confused: !

HI I'm in Scotland and have the same problem - I bought the axis from manny's in NYC new and shipped it over ('cause it's £1000 cheaper than buying it here!)

But the action has always been like the picture - is there a UK service (other than my local butter fingered guitar repairer)??:(

Hope you can help:eek:

A reputable repairer will be able to do a setup for you, it's not as hard as you would think, just can be a little time consuming. did you buy second hand?

no - it was new - although I think it was the demo model - the neck was a bit grubby - but no marks on it (no case either!!!) it was $999 from Manny's and was sold as new..... but I bought it in Sep 2004, and it was built 11/8/00 so........

I have been able to setup my guitars befroe but anything I've ever had with a floyd (N4, heartfiled etc.) has been recessed, this because it's flat is screwing me up !!!!

Any help appreciated....

Smellybum (maybe you should give us a first name? :) ) can you just edit your post, cause dealers can't sell outside their country and it may get them into trouble. Maybe start a new thread so more people will see it and we can walk you through the process. You'll have that bad boy setup in no time.
