I know the diagram sucks but I'm at work and FTP is blocked for uploading an image to my webspace!
To explain, the strings level the posts of the floyd slightly raised, and the ass of the floyd heading towards the body????

I've done setups before, but this is starting to annoy me - 'cause it's not setup properly, I'm not playing it as much, and then I'm wondering while I'm keeping it...... must resist temptation to sell........

HELP ME !

I had my Petrucci setup and Plek'd at Charlie Chandlers Guitar Experience in Hampton Wick. It plays like a dream now.

Not cheap but cant recommend him enough.

I sorry to tell you but when you buy overseas and bypass our support and distribution you are really on your own. I can understand why you would buy but hope you understand that our distributor cannot help you. Your only claim left is with the dealer you bought it from. That dealer is not an authortized dealer anymore and hasn't been for several years. I cannot be sure but I have my doubts about the instrument being new.

Hey Big Poppa,

I know I'm really regretting my decision, if it wasn't for the fact it was a gift from my wife (well she paid for it) then I would have sold it and bought a new one from a UK dist.

Attention all those UK' folks out there who think they'll save a few quid (that's bucks for the rest of you!) it's not worth it - buy from the real deal.

Any help would still be appreciated, thanks for the names for Glasgow but I stay north of Inverness, which is about 250 miles north!

As soon as finances permit I'll get me a legal purchase ball...... if anyone call help me I'd really appreciate it.

and I hope my shame fades away soon....

Cool, Big Poppa, I was just taken aback with the amazing level of support you guys offer, I'm still a newbie ball ownder....still finding my feet.

Please can I pick your brain ?
This is the first guitar I've owned where the floyd doesn't have a rear route... i have the same problem as the guy who started the thread.

I've setup my own guitars before but no matter what I do I can't get the action low enough (not an action freak!)

am I best to shim the neck? or am I missing sometihg ?

(I promise not to rant or moan about aany help I know the guitar is 6 years old I'd be really chuffed with any help - and I'll be quiet on this thread !)

Cheers

Big Poppa, you' da man.

In a nutshell...... My Axis neck IS NOT BAD !!!

It just needed a bloody good setup - (3hours of my time later!)

Mega thanks and apologies for asking to BP - shouldn't have made the request on an instrument with a dodgy past. Thanks for making me do sominthing about it myself!!!

Neck is superfast and I love it!!!!! - I'm off to Glasgow in a couple of weeks - can anyone tell me who the auth'd dealers in Scotland are ??

PS - 'nother question - Part of the problem with my action was the studs for the floyd wouldn't move - which I found was due to a build up of crap in the holes (again never buy from suspect sources!)

once cleaned they were fine but I removed the trem and there's a hole in between the the 2 studs.... is this a general hole for fitting the piezo circuit ? or is this another problem with mine !!!!

Thanks again for everybody's advice - I'll try not to be such a lazy bum in the future.... be keen to hear what people have got to say about my hole.... I'd take pics but I haven't been able to put it down, let alone take it apart since the setup..... and I apologise for this in advance as it's not in tune, not very good, and spanking of the musical monkey....but see if you can hear the difference !

Thanks again - Big Poppa, you have wisdom beyond your years..... and you helped me without even knowing it !

Glad to see you 've got it all figured out S.B.

Now... regarding:
"be keen to hear what people have got to say about my hole." :D

I'm not sure what kind of responses you'll get with that moniker of yours

I usually stay clear of the smelly ones.....;)
