I've just had the neck off my '79 Stingray to get the neck and pocket dates and while it was apart, I noticed the anchor of the trussrod seemed to be not sitting right. It's sitting at an angle and is pulled down into the neck slightly. I'm thinking it's been overtightened in the past (probably why the bullet hex was rounded out) and why the neck won't straighten out properly (well over 60thou on the action).

Do any of the resident experts think this is knackered or am I getting worked up over nothing....?

If Jon's looking in, is there anywhere I can get a list of recommended techs in the UK? Preferably in the South.

This bass is NOT gonna die!!!! :D

EB has a major importer/agent for each country (off hand, I cant find it on the new EB website...but it's there somewhere).

Email them direct...pretty sure they'd have a list of techs who do warranty work for them in your country. They'd be the techs I'd send to.

Don't muck around with the local stores who have an on-sight "tech".

May cost a little more and you may have to transit the neck, but that's the way I'd go.

Good luck!

Although he may not be on Strings and Thing list of techies I can thoroughly recommend Joe White in Farnborough. He designs and makes electric and acoustic guitars and has done set-up and maintenance work for numerous people I know plus my Bongo and a friends SR5. I will use him again without question when any of my basses need a set-up. He's here
