Once I sold an acoustic bass with hardshell case on eBay. My auction said US bidders only, but someone from Canada bought it. The thing would've cost $30 to ship in the US. USPS wouldn't even send it to Canada. They said it was too large. So, I tried UPS and FedEx. FedEx was cheaper. It cost $180 to ship.

I sold the bass for $220.

This is why US sellers hate to ship out of country.

Two comments

1. As a seller you can easily configure your eBay listings so that bidders from countries you don't ship to are unable to place bids. It's in the "selling preferences" section of "My eBay"

2. The buyer pays for the shipping, so why should you "hate" that the shipping cost was $180?

So why does CARgo go by SHIP...and SHIPments go by train?

Same reason you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway, I bet.

I believe that probally everyone who is a regular poster on either Ernie Ball or Talkbass cannot be in it to sell something worthless for the price of an EBMM.

I'd be careful about making that kind of assumption. Yes, I trust nearly everyone here and some of us know each other quite well....but we've also seen some things go south.

Best to check around and know who you're dealing with - even here.

Might explain why my pistols have rifling and my rifles have pistol grips. I have been in a plane on a taxiway, and driven across a jetway in a car, but I don't understand why those six string things aren't called "Trebles" if I'm playing a Bass?
