Im looking into getting a Luke in either Teal pearl of Carbon Blue Pearl. Now money is not a problem on this guitar but im wondering. Will i ever use the piezo if i buy one with it? I have no problem paying for it if i use it but if i end up getting the piezo and not using it in my eyes its waisting money so any opinions on the piezo

Absolutely not a waste. If you are a gigging guitarist, it will pay off in spades. I can't stand playing acoustic parts on an electric. This will do the trick for you nicely and it sounds great! The only drawback on the Luke is that they stuff all the controls over where volume is and it gets pretty crowded there. The Petrucci has the best control layout, IMO. YMMV.

Basically, it sounds like you need to sell yourself on the idea of having one. I have several JP's, one with piezo, two without. I love the piezo for what it does. I play "acoustic" stuff on it all the time as well as incorporate the piezo into my own songs. However, my guitarist (I play the bass) does not have a piezo (I will not let him use my Pet either! ;) ), so he just puts a clean channel in on the parts that I wrote with the piezo. I notice the difference of course, but it doesn't kill the song.

The question you should ask yourself is this....would I use it enough to justify spending the extra $$$ on?

Keep in mind, if you get the piezo option, you will always have it just in case. There might come a time when you really want one, there it is.

Personally, I would get the option. Better to have and not use, than to want and not have! But, it is your money.

Good luck.

im a bassist but have an Axis Super Sport w/ the piezo and love it! most of the time im playing punk or metal or some non-piezo-requiring type of music ... so I'm probably the last guy on the planet that would want/need/like a piezo but, to my own surprise, I'm a HUGE fan of it. I especially love it blended with the mag pups.

so, my vote is that its not a waste at all and is definately a feature my next ebmm guitar will have

After being on the forum a while it has been pretty consistent that those who got the piezo are glad they did and those who were on the fence and didn't wish they had.

I don't recall anyone ever saying they regretted getting the piezo or that it wasn't worth it.

Dammit, now you guys are giving me GAS for a piezo EBMM. My Axis is only a week old (to me) and now I'm wondering if I should have held out.

Oh well, now I can explain why I NEED another guitar.;)

It's well worth the extra for the piezo. Especially if you connect the piezo to an acoustic amp and the mags to another amp. Thats the setup I have and I'm well pleased with the sound. Sooooooooooooo glad I got it (at UK prices too!!!)

I thought the same thing when I got my JP6, and went ahead and went without it... Now I kind of wish that I would have just waited and saved a little more to have it :(

My thoughts.

If you play strictly distortion always have and always will...save the money (or spend it on strings, pedals, amp, weed, beer, hookers, etc)

If you play clean songs or parts of songs, especially if you play live, get it.
