i am looking for a multi effect pedal to run through my Peavey triple xxx 212 combo, most likely the effects loop. I basically only want it for the effects since i already have an awsome distortion. Will the podxt be good for this use and will it not hurt my all tube tone to much? Also how are the quality of the effects? are there anyone ones that arnt that good?
Also, would it be better to get the podxt + FBVSB, or the podxt live ( i keep hearing pedals are to close together)

Other uses for this will be just playing with headphones / recording into computer / taking with me when im to lazy to take my amp

Thanks for any info

or would basic stomp boxes be better for this use still?

No. The Pod's are Amp simulators/pre-amp's and you can't just use the effects, there is always a sim on. I have the original Pod Pro and the other guitarist in my band just got the Podxt Live. Stomp boxes would be your best bet if you want the tone from your Peavey.

You can shut off the amp models and speaker cabs. Jfrick you are incorrect. Plenty of cats use them as FX only processors.

Please explain how to then.......I've been wanting to do that with mine for the year and a half I've had it. It's not in the manual, and nobody has been able to tell me how to do it. I know how to turn off the speaker sim, but, I've read and have been told that the amp models can't be turned off. Are you talking about using the "tube pre-amp" setting where you select the amp model?

OrangeChannel is absolutely right. I got the chance to test drive one the other day and I used it both ways. I plugged it into a Power Amp and Cabinet and ran it as a modeller (let me tell you, it sounded fantastic, though I didn't get to fool with settings too much), and I ran it through the effects loop of a Marshall DSL401 combo. That way it is effects only, and like modelling, the effects sounded terrific. Well worth the price tag (though not where I live) just for the effects alone. Very warm and well rounded. If I could afford one I'd grab it in a second. By the way, I'm talking about the PodXT Live...

Well, maybe that was an improvement on the original Pod Pro, which is what I have.

My buddy has the Podxt Live. He runs his through the effects loop and it doesn't turn the amp models off. What's the deal?

I had a Pod 2.0 and you could bypass the preamp section and use just effects.

I wish I still had my pod. Then I would know how to do it and could explain...but it's been a couple of years...

It might have been in the "Deeper Editing" via midi and aComputer.

Man I wish I knew more before I purchased my Behringer V Amp-2.0...I mean its not that I dislike it, cause I don't, I love it (for recording its fantastic)...but now that I plan on gigging, things may be different...what I need is an effects system with multiple pedals incorporated into the system, not amp and speaker combinations, but pedal effects...anyone have any suggestions? Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack!

I'm pretty sure it's only the XTs that you can truely turn the amp and cab sims off.
You just go into the amp and cab menus and shut them off. Also, you have to set the out put for what it's going to be running into in order to maximize it's sounds(front of a combo/stack, effects loop, etc...).

I've been playing with my XT Live for a few days now and it seems pretty cool.

That's what I'm thinking BucketBot....The newer xt's may do it. I'm not that familiar with them. I'm just familiar with the original Pod Pro....

You just crank it to the NO AMP setting, which will also by pass the cabs. If you want to run the amp models with no cab modeling just set that to no cab. It's so simple it's not even necessary in the manual.

You could with the old pod pro also, being that it was a V2.0 you could more or less just bypass everything. I used to run one with a 2:90 and bypass the speaker models.

Raz,

To bypass the amp sim on the V-amp, just hold the tuner and tap buttons together. I do it sometimes and it sounds good.
