thx Tim,
what is the type of your takamine?
i heard takamine made a lot of nice quality of their asia made guitar type too, but i never had a change to play it.. just heard it from some friends

My Takamine is a 99 Limited Edition, with the mountain inlays at the 12th and in the soundhole. It was previously owned by a very heavy handed player and some of the top had worn off. I did have it repeaired, but it still continued to peel so I put a scratchplate on it. Its a great axe, and I got it for £300!

hi david,
how are you?
sure , i hope my next ebmm is piezo equipped.. probably a silo/luke/morse.. their piezo are in the same quality isn't it?

Hi Abraham, I'm fine especially since I got my Dargie :) Can't tell about Luke or Silo Piezo but the Axis SS is very good.

As for the Morse I'm afraid that Piezo is not available yet

Here's a thought (coming back to the original question of the thread) what about a '60s Fender acoustic? They had bolt-on Strat necks so probably they were pretty close to an electric feel??
Not really too helpful, as it would be pretty hard to find one.......I always thought they looked rather cool.

What about putting an Music Man Neck on the acoustic of your choice?

Is this likely to be practical?? Can't quite see sawing up my Martin and then screwing or gluing in a Silhouette neck. A very expensive way of destroying 2 guitars

I have to recommend Martin too! I've never owned one, but I've tried out a few of them and they sounded amazing!

Piezo on the electric guitar is a very good alternative solution in a gig situation when it's unpractical to switch guitars, but it definitely doesn't eliminate the need for a real acoustic guitar!

Owned/played a D35 around the later 70s. Nice but wasn't for me. I switched to some old Gibson (smaller body) that I gigged regularly with. As a singer/songwriter, it wasn't about how an acoustic sounded but how it sounded together with my voice. I opened for Leon Redbone a couple times, and loved the sound of his very old Martin Manhattan. Found one just like it in a NYC pawn shop, and it was the most wonderful little acoustic I've ever played. Couldn't swing the hefty price, though.

my acoustic

My acoustic consists of a 1960's Italian made Eko Ranger body with a JB Player electric guitar neck mounted on it. Not real pretty to look at, but it plays like butter, even with Elixir 12's on it. And it really sounds pretty darn good if I do say so. Looks aren't everythin' ya know. ;)

Tim,i love to see the inlay and the mountain on it's hole, it's classy.. i really like that kind of simple guitar.. but is it hard to play without any inlay?

definetely, my Custom Legends feel close in profile to the couple of Lukes I've tried, more so the sunburst one which has an oil finished neck.
wow.. is it true?? i think luke has a very unique neck shape and size(even for electric guitar), i cannot imagine if there's an acoustic plays like luke.. it must be the most comfort acoustic guitar neck :)..

Not one to give props to other guitar manufacturers, but Mike Rowan makes the sweetest acoustic I've ever played:
Hi king hazel, thx for your information..
it's a very interesting guitar , and very beautiful too.. but.. it looks like a solid body guitar isn't it? does it has a hole inside the body?or it just has a piezo pick up?
thx king!

I have a Martin OM with a low profile neck, reminds me of my Axis and my AL a lot.

Hi Abraham. I'm hangin' in there, bud. Hope you are doing well.

I honestly couldn't tell you. The one I wrote about was the only Gibson acoustic I've owned. It wasn't an especially great acoustic, kind of thuddy, but it had a certain something that just worked for me at the time, including a narrow neck. I don't recall the model, I think it was a J45, looked a bit like this: GIBSON

If you're looking for a great acoustic in the $650-1,000 USD range, the Takamine is outstanding. I've long since lost my singing voice and the desire to play an acoustic, but if I were to get one again, I'd get a Tak with a cedar top. I've compared mine to a couple of Taylors at the studio. The Taylors were exquisite instruments, but I actually liked the tone and playability of my somewhat beat up Garth Brooks Tak more. I sold it to a sweetly voiced hippy gal, who gigs with it regularly. Nice to know it found a good home.
