I read somewhere (at a Gibson site) that someone bought a p.u-ring from a '59 Les Paul for $10.000. It was in excellent condition.
In light of that, $75 for some pieces of tape isn't that bad. It's the vintage market, where authenticity is king.

Herein lies the paradox. If the part is authentic from another instrument (ie other than the one you are installing it in) then how authentic is the donee instrument? The lines get very blurred. Probably one of the many reasons I avoid the whole "vintage" thing, or at least, won't pay silly money for it.
