Hello,
I'm new to MM, but have heard good things about them. I found this on eBay and it is advertised as "new B-stock with papers and warranty". I asked the seller about the warranty and papers and his reply was that everything is done online. I just bought a Fender MIM and it came with all the paperwork. I did have to go online to register the Fender, however. Is this a legit Sterling? Also, I can't find this serial number in the data base. (see pics) Does MM do things differently?
Thanks for any help!

This is a Sterling by Music Man bass. It can get confusing, but it's not an American made bass. These are licensed products, built overseas and generally a good value.

I'm not sure if there's a Sterling By Music Man forum.....but they have a website with contact info.

But don't buy this thinking it's a regular MM, built in San Luis Obispo.

You really need to contact Sterling by Music Man regarding this. The serial number search tool is for Ernie Ball Music Man products only. Sterling by Musicman is a different brand name.

Was it purchased from an official Sterling by Musicman dealer?
