I wanted to raise the action a little so I raises the side screws on the Floyd a bit... Maybe two twists.

The action is now perfect, but the Floyd isnt 100% parallel to the body. Here's a pic

Thanks in advance

As joe web said, this has nothing to do with the stud height but the trem spring pull. Open the back cavity and release the two screws that hold the trem claw. Do it slowly with a good Phillips head driver, the screws are soft and can strip easily. The trem or rather the knife edges need to be parallel to the body and hit the studs at a 90 degree angle.

What it affects when its off is tuning stability after trem use, the trem will not perfectly go back to zero.

Also, small action adjustments can me made more effectively with adjusting the truss rod. The Ernie Ball Music Man design is perfect for that. Touching trem height should not be a common setup adjustment on a Floyd after a first setup.

He didn't say he wanted it to float, just wanted to raise the action. I agree with your last comment that the truss rod would be the first place to raise the action though.

Thanks for the input. That's correct, I don't want it to float.

I tried it floating but I'm not a fan. I just put it back to what you see in the pic

Thanks!

I see. Thats one of the inherent problems of Floyds. When you set them non-floating, your action is dictated by high high/low the neck versus the trem saddles sit. The string height at the last fret is basically independent of the truss rod adjustment and the lowest action you can get. The only ways to change it is to shim the saddles or the neck pockt (most builders have the pocket a little deeper already as shims are a simpler compensation than the opposite, carving the pocket deeper).

But indeed, if you like the action at thlast fret after an initial setup or out of the box, always start with the truss rod. Clamp the strings down over the first fret with a capo, press the low E down at thlast fret, and check the clearance over the 9th fret. Something in the range of .2-.35mm is a good starting point. Worth investing into some feeler gauges (can be had for a buck at the right places)!

Non-floating Floyds are a little more tricky to set up to exact taste, but totally worth it. EBMM does amazing factory adjustments already.

btw. your Y2D should have a thin shim in the neckpocket to get a lower action.
maybe it would be enough to remove this shim plate, just pull off the strings, unscrew the neck, remove shim plate, screw the neck on and bring down your tremolo to be parallel with the body, restring the guitar and give it a try.

I agree with Joe. Why? Because that's what CS told me when I asked them about my Axis floyd adjustment. If there are no shims, you can also add one at the end farther from the heel of the neck. That'll get you higher action. You only need a bit. A thin business card is more than enough.
