500 $ for 200$ more you can have a 2nd hand Axis with pickups, trem, tuners, neck plate...

Better go for a REAL MM instead of a custom made that will cost you a fortune in the end !!!

Ridiculus & illegal

I can't comment on the legality of this product since I have no clue about how that works.

I don't see what is wrong with someone wanting to build a guitar that is exactly the way they want it with regard to finish+hardware.

It may cost more than a used guitar in the end, but you have a new guitar that is exactly what you made it to be, and proud of it. There isn't a dollar value you can put on that.

why not ? Everybody is free to spend his money the way he wants :D :D

but

the shape of the Axis and head stock are EBMM protected design and you can't use them without permission

Ugh

Didn't you guys see that I wasn't commenting on the legality issue. I'm not an attorney, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I was just commenting on why someone would want one of these kits, or any other kit for that matter, since there were posts questioning the logic behind it.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Lots of people do exactly that. What you cannot do, legally, is SELL a guitar that incorporates trademarked items owned by someone other than yourself.

Build 'em all day long. But don't sell them, eh?

That guy's whole business is making "replicas." Shut 'em down.

I gotta say I'm alittle upset at this. I don't know really whats the deal, and it's not my place to get in the middle, but I just don't get it.

For people who know him, he has done nothing but extend himself to offer people free information. Many of you have taken the information and started your own business with it, using him like a whore. But I guess that's okay.

You people come on his forum and use it to sell "Extra" stuff and ask questions, then turn around on here and bang him.

Why don't you just make it easier, and while your "using" his site to sell your extra pickups just also state, hey I like being two face....

I can't say legally if what he's doing is right or wrong, but who am I to judge? I live in a glass house like 98% of us.

Again, not my fight, just standing up for someone who has always helped me when it came to my builds. Without his friendship or knowledge I wouldn't have half the collection I have now.

If anyone has a problem with my thoughts, I'm all ears. I'm not going into copyright or legal issues, because I know the answer to that, I'm strictly going on the problem I have with people bashing him..

I also guess, if you guys want to "Shut Him Down" you probally don't want to be on his building forum, so let me know if you want me to remove you...

Much Love...

Let's say you want a EBMM EVH, hard tail, with a striped paint job. That would be something you don't see very often. Would you be willing to buy an original one ($) and hack it up?

You don't see any striped orignal EVH's......Ed has most of them. They were never for sale? Whats your point? This is not about EVH or striping. If yu read the OEM post it is a perfectly valid quesiton to ponder whether someone can replicate exactly an EBMM product.

And in answer to your question. No. I'd buy an orignal EVH if I could afford one and keep the thing the way it was meant to be.....a replica is just that a replica, and its never going to be anything but a replica with replica sell on costs i.e. minimal.

It is still on ebay so let's just let this thread die already... Wonderdog would have pulled it already, let's move on... No need to fight over this issue anymore...

Lenny, I think Sixx was referring to the party that he quoted. I don't think he intended to take shots at this group.

As far as my comments in this thread, I must not be communicating clearly. I'm not condemning, nor condoning, this guitar kit.

I've never said that this guitar would or wouldn't be the quality/value of the original. I do feel that in the right hands it could be assembled into a very nice instrument though. EBMM nice? not sure.

I own an Axis and I can't see it getting very much better than that. It's the bar I used for my project guitar I assembled this summer. I know I won't be relocating to SLO anytime soon. :D

My original post was just intended to point out why someone would desire such a kit after some were making it sound foolish to do so.
