Help! Is this line at the nut normal or a crack?

I just bought a brand new Majesty and noticed this line where the nut meets the fretboard (see pics 1-3). The other side (pic 4) has something similar, I can actually see a square shape there which I assume is the outline of the nut. Is this normal or should I be returning this?

That is fairly common, as the nut, finish, and neck all expand and contract at different rates depending upon temperature and humidity. It is not something I would be overly concerned about unless the clearcoat starts falling off, which I have yet to see. Others may have a different viewpoint, and that's fine, too.

As Pete said, a witness line in the finish like that is a natural consequence of different materials coming together. It's nothing to worry about at all.
