Is this weird?

no offense to anyone here but i just flat out do NOT like like the sound of slap bass. it just sounds so corny/hammy to me.

on any bass for that matter.

its not bad in moderation in a song.... but ughhhhhh the kids in guitar centers accross america...

so theres nothing weird about it at all. the stingray is incredibly versitile. i like the way how i can go from really pretty warm sounding to ugly with no trouble at all.

ive always loved how i can easily create a signature kind of sound out of the thing and get it to sound just the way i want it to. mind you it took years to get a hang of so many eqs between the amp and the bass but it was well worth it and i dont think ill ever switch basses

hahaha...you guys are funny! Yes...still have the war paint.

I feel the bass is just a tool you use to project what you want whether it be slap, finger style or using a pic. Up to you. You will dictate what the bass should do.

There is always a critic.....but...it is all opinion based only. Who cares about the weird looks...I get them all the time!

I play my stingrays in country bands...locally i seem to be the only one who does but that's ok...i usually get "great sound man!"

I use my Stingray 5's HS and Piezo for blues, jazz and funk, disco and Rock!
Used one on a country jam last week and it sounded phenominal....blended or just using the neck S pickup

I don't know why country folks would give funny looks. There was once this little old band called Alabama, and their bassist played a StingRay way back when...

Seriously though, the SR5 has been getting widespread use in the genre for some years now.

The majority of the bass players in my area use F**d*r P basses or some variation thereof. I played one for awhile, but last year I traded it in for a 4 string Ray (I already had an SR5 for years now).

Everything else is a copy (but thats just my oppinion)
