I agree with a lot of the sentiment here. In this economy and some of our financial situations, it simply makes no sense to pay so much more sentimental or collector's value when you can buy something now that's better.

It's like me and my car wrenching and tuning days.

If you're in our garage, and you spend extra money on something that doesn't improve performance, that has no function to benefit; you're out.

But I guess me being the youngen here, it's hard to understand at this point in my life the compelling nature of "sentimental" value. Maybe my generation is just pragmatic and cynical. *shrug* lol

Besides, when you have had it 20 years it'll be vintage and you will have owned it from the start, that would mean a lot more to me.

What is the difference between the Axis and the EVH besides toggle switch placement?

3 differences/improvements

1. Switch placement
2. a little extra thickness (1/32 i believe) added to the high e side of the neck, most noticeable past the 12th fret
3. belly contour

Great conversation going on here! Having sold all my other guitars, LP's included, can speak from experience... The improvements to the Axis model make a big difference (as mentioned earlier).

You are much better off buying a newer EBMM-especially the BFR items!
