Orange Firemist is HOT!
There's alot going on in this finish, folks. It gets lots of different GREAT looks. As I've said, the TPB pics are of course great, but you know how it is ... when you start handling the bass, and seeing it at different angles and in different lighting situations, you really see its true colors.
There are darker mandarin orange tones, reds, to amazingly cool copper tones. Occassionally I'll catch a subtle grape-fruit hue, at certain angles. Many times, if not most of the time, you get more than one color tone simultaneously. And then there's the metallic aspect of the finish. Firemist is one fine & funky finish, folks.
And I lucked out on the neck with this one, too. Besides being beautifully uniform and almost "bleached" light (which I love in a maple neck), it's got some gorgeous mild flaming to it. Not full-on, it's very subtle, but very visible ... diagonally oriented figuring to it. Just gorgeous. I'm totally infatuated.
BP, what a great color/finish, and as always, a top notch build that is sheer heaven to play.
Thanks again to you too, Brandt.
TPB pics have already been posted in another thread, but I'll add some of my own to this thread, probably this weekend.
By the way, any other OFM'ers on the forum so far? I HIGHLY recommend it (obviously). And the VWP pickguard is gorgeous with it.
Edit: I meant to say that I'd really love to know the different color layers involved for this finish, if that's not proprietary info. It looks too complex to just be multiple layers of a single mix. I'd be even more mind-blown if that's the case.
Peace!
