I had a dream and Luke was in it.

He asked me to play bass for him during some clinic or something, it was a small venue, more like a music store than anything else. (Dreams can be non-specific.) First we had to watch some numbnuts 'audition' on bass, but Luke was telling me, "Don't worry about it, this guy's awful, you're in."

And this guy on bass ROCKED. I was in deep kimshi! Plus Luke was saying, "We're just going to do some of the El Gruppo stuff" and I knew for sure that I didn't know any of THAT.

I swear, I was so tense, I woke up.

At least it wasn't like those dreams I have where Big Poppa is in my kitchen and can't find any decent cookware. THOSE will give you the hives.

Sterling is an excellent all-around musician and whatever he says about it is self-deprecating - which, okay, we ARE talking about Steve Morse and Luke here, and they ARE kind of scary no matter who you might be.

But the BP hangs, no doubt about it, and I am proud of every time I've ever had the opportunity to play with him.

Hey, we HAVE played together and made it sound pretty good.

Having John Ferraro around can't hurt, either.

Jack... far to much Kettle One before bed causes these things. I wouldn't be too worried. Now when Jeremy starts having Luke Dreams... be VERY WORRIED.

Everything you said about BP I can totally back up (except the playing "with" part). Sterling lets it all hang out and pulls some unique moves of his own (I really like the playing a Silo while sitting on the floor with it placed across his lap... classic stuff).

Around 1993 or so right here in Adelaide, South Australia, I saw Sterling Ball playing in a band with a couple of guitarists named, oh Steve Morse and Albert Lee... He was a REALLY GOOD bass player!

Give him an ice-cold glass of water covered in condensation and a valuable one-off instrument, and he's also a damned fine guitar player.

nobody does well in youtube comments. thats just a fact of life at this point. collegehumor did a skit where they "expose" the commenters' personalities on a few high trafficed sites (including digg - where I work) and they pretty much nailed it. the video's got racy language so i wont post a link. but if you're not easily offended you can find the video by google'ing "we didnt start the flame war"

I just came over here to echo what Jack said. I was in the room that night in Hollywood, and when BP took his solo spot, there were smiles all around me from the people that were just totally diggin' what he was serving up.

The video evidence is there....Pops got chops!
