Me and Ed go way back - it can't be summed up easily, and that's okay.

But seeing you digging these basses is a real treat for me.

I'll just leave it at that.

Thanks Jack, I think it was that hypno-therapy session you bought me for my birthday! ;)

I better go downstairs and give the Bongo Mind Control Ray Generator a good swift kick. When in doubt, practice percussive maintenance, I always say.

Clearly, it's not working properly. Ed is being inexorably drawn into the EBMM fold to be sure, but he keeps on buying the wrong model. Maybe the Generator just needs some tuning.....

Hey, Ed, what's your blood type?

Why? Whats wrong with a Sterling? It's a great bass.

Nice one, Ed, congratulations!

I find it interesting to see that you opt for the single H models, which are the ones BP keeps advocating ... am I mistaken when I assume these fill a certain spot in the tonal range all your guitars offer? Or is it something simpler, like weight? (Well maybe both) :)

Well, weight is an issue for me with basses, but I doubt the extra weight of one pickup would be a deal breaker. Mainly, I like the focus of one big pickup, and with the 3-way switch and 3-band, I can tailor it for a wide variety of situations.

Don't get me wrong, I love the multi-pickup basses, my 25th HH, the Al and HSS setups are great, very versatile. I guess single H is just a preference for me. But... that middle pickup on the Al/HSS axes is haunting my dreams.

Nice one Ed

So logically your next purchase is going to be a Bongo and I have to assume you are working on that as we type - so which one is it going to be, hmm?

Single H 5er in sea foam green would be nice, dontcha think? :D

Congrats Ed! That's a pretty bass - did you consider a piezo bridge?
I think they add a nice quality to a fretless Sterling.
