Thanks once again for all the replies and words of encouragement.

Thanks also for the potential offer, but I can't commit to any bands outisde the London UK area!

Just spoke to lead guitarist. He's using this as an opportunity to bale out too and concentrate on other projects which look like they might be better for him. Can't blame him for that.

It wasn't really about egos but I do think the guy has got a little 'too' muzo and precocious lately. Other aspects of his life ain't so good right now either so perhaps it's all for the best.

Onwards and upwards.

Very important to ensure each member of the group has the same aspirations and goals... Good to pulse check every now and again and remind folks of why "we're doing what we're doing".

Nothing wrong with someone deciding they need something more or different - best to be up front about it though.

And BTW - I agree with TK re: the Lead singer and Bass player ego thing... I've found, though, that the Bass player's ego is usually warranted and well earned. ;)

It's all about the bass... :D

I remind my guys every chance I get... Wouldn't want any of them to begin to feel more important that they really are... :p

I agree everyone in every band is as important as everyone else or it isn't a band.

The High school marching bands know that.

Rock and roll band members forget.

Music is just notes and how they are represented. Bands sell more than solo artists do.
imho

Rap isn't bad if has got decent music behind it.. unfortunately the music is rarely good... check out bands like ozomatli.... those fellas aren't half bad players.. and the rapping just adds another dimension to the rythym. Anything like that 5 cent fella though is just rubbish!!

I have always known bass players to be the level headed ones in a band situation. Though I tend to suffer a bit of middle child syndrome.....in that any chance to play something flashy i will (try)... because most the time I am playing something subtle and fitting and don't get much attention for it... but as soon as any song opens up.. BAM...

Some better news......

Our drummer (also my cousin) has called a couple of ex-bandmates who aren't doing much right now, and subject to other commitments, they are gonna come and jam with us in a week or two.

Things MAY be looking up already, even if all it does is keep the two of us in the saddle a while, whilst sorting out something a little more permanent.
