Ahhhh........ Sebring.
A race dominated by European Cars...........
But yes, no Aussie cars. (although I never did mention them) ;)

I was just playing on the running joke of US cars having GRUNT-O-PLENTY, weighing too much, handling like a monster truck, and with brakes that fade at the sight of a hairpin ! :D
(Was the Sebring hairpin removed in 1998 to give US cars a chance ? .. just KIDDING!).

Ok, so now you've mentioned Aussie cars :

It's interesting to see where the pedigree of local production cars comes from.

We'll never forget the year the NASCARS came to demo at Bathurst.
(161 Laps).
They could only do 6 or so Laps before the brakes sh@t themselves....... after all the promoter and driver hype, it ended up being quite embarrassing for them.
The Aussie V8 Supercars do rule that domain.

But who needs brakes and nimble handling when you're racing around an Oval track.... lap after lap....... after lap.... after lap.. *yawwwwn* :p :p

All that being said, I wouldn't say no to a Viper.......
but I might put a bumper sticker on it saying
"My other car is a Ferrari / Porsche / BMW / Audi" :D :D :D

Uh Oh....... This is a US Based forum, with Many US members.......
WHAT AM I DOING ??!!??!!??!!

Cancel everything I said....... I just LURVE them big Yank Tanks !!!
Gonna git me a BUICK and a HUMMER !. Yeee-Haaaarrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!

:D :p :D :p :D :p :D :p :D :p :D :p

OK, let's not go there with brakes mounted on European cars... the rotors on my Saab *SUCK* One trip down the Grapevine and mine will be dust.

Yeah, man. I even live in Detroit. I have to take exception to this American car bashing....NOT! BMW fan here.

Personally, I can't stand NASCAR, and I much prefer to watch F1. Thank goodness for replays and my DVR. It makes it so much easier.

And that's a first in US automotive history!

I had always wondered why so many US-made vehicles have such fluffy rides. Then, I moved to Detroit. I have a little hypothesis that the crap roads we have here drive the automakers here to make cars like that.

BTW, where's the guitar?

Ummm, when were Saabs ever classed as performance cars ?? :D :D

They should stick to aeroplanes ! :p :D

Okay, some Saabs are made in Sweden. Sadly, some are now made in Ohio (9-7x). Darn that brand engineering that GM is so fond of.

The snappy automotive banter is certainly entertaining and all, but... Siggy - where's the freakin' Dargie pics already? :)

Yeah Sig.......... look how off the rails this thread has become whilst we entertain ourselves with banter about the limitations of US built cars

Ooops......... I did it again !....... OFF THE RAILS....... how appropriate to add the US car handling banter......... HA....HAAA !
(thanks, I'll be here all night)
