As most of you know the Beatles estate and Apple Computer ended their years of legal hassles and offered the entire catalog on itunes.

I bought it. I have it in most forms. But you really need to understand how
important the Beatles were to me as a musician and as a businessman in the music business.

In the package you get some video.....I watched the first concert on US soil that was two days after the Sullivan show in DC amazing.

The industry loves to create the next John Lennon...there will only be one Beatles

The amazing thing is that they went through their transformations and musical growth in just seven years. Most punk bands make two cd's in five years. The Beatles did it in 7 wow

The Beatles are the greatest. It took me years to realize it, too. You're right about their amazingly diverse and long musical journey in just 7 years. The business was different then and half that time they never toured, but to me at least they set the standard for evolving your band's sound and keeping on the cutting edge.

I agree with you all the way BP, and later on it would be amazing how long some bands would be in the studio making an album. I would think the Beatles recorded their entire first album in one day and Sgt Peppers in 129 using nothing but 4 tracks it is pretty scary. I was just watching the Concert For George DVD last week and the line up of musicians that played that show to form a rock orchestra is perhaps the greatest sounding group of players I have ever heard in my life. I guess Albert Lee may very well have told you the same thing. The Beatles are a subject I have to cut short or I start blogging lol.

Greatest band ever. I bought the mono box set last year. I was waiting for them to release the remastered catalog for years, but I never thought they would give us the original mono versions of the albums. Almost the only thing I've been listening to since it came out in 2009 is the mono box set.

The 7 years and out thing has always blown my mind. I literally can't comprehend the greatness required to do that much in that little time.

Call me wierd but I never liked the Beatles. Yes a few songs are great, but for the most part, not interesting to me.

The Beatles always have been such a huge influential part of my life...I'm way too young to have witnessed them being around but still their music always has been a close companion starting from childhood...it used to be my parent's music but it grew with me and never left me until it became my very own in a way...even through my little "adolescent revolutions" -where I turned to Punkrock and Metal- I always came back to those records my parents loved (Beatles, Dylan amongst lots of Blues and Jazz). I have to admit that it was this music that sparked the flame to pick up the guitar and really try to get better and better at it (instead of playing only powerchords and trying to look cool)...as others mentioned...can't even get started with how much this band means to me -on a very personal level even- or else it'd be a full-blown autobiographical off-topic short story.

It's great to have the music available as a digital download...going with the times will keep this incredible band alive for generations to come.

Great band. Took me too long to appreciate their genius.
Listen to them all the time now and look for ways to experience them in different forms.

--LOVE cirque
--fab four cover band in vegas
--Across the Universe (a movie i really love)
--Laurence Juber, Tommy Emanuel (acoustic players)
--And Sir Paul still on DVD

Their music is just so perfect, whatever your mood.

Yes they accomplished an enormous amount in the industry in a short amount of time.
But don't think they just came off the plane and were just naturally talented.
They rolled up their sleeves more than most people know.
They put in thousands of hours playing multiple times per week in gungy clubs all over Europe. They played all sorts of music which helped them develop their craft.
You also have to consider their timing of just being born. The world was their oyster. That type was a wide open path where they could do pretty much whatever they wanted.
This is not to discount their success, just saying there are many factors theat contributed to their success and they put it in the work.

OT - Kanye West called Coldplay the next Beatles.... flattering... but come on!

I think he's already proven himself to be an idiot many times over.

People are always looking for the next 'Beatles', the next 'Jimi Hendrix', the next 'Elvis'......it's not going to happen.

I was never a fan of the Beatles growing up. Not sure why to be honest. I just didn't get it. Now, I am a big fan of them. My mom had all the Beatles album on vinyl...and they are now in my possession. I love listening to them. Same thing with surf guitar. Recently became a big fan of that too.

Awesome...now I have to get the collection on Itunes. thanks.

I love a lot of bands but The Beatles have to be my favorite. I can listen to them every day. No one will ever match what they did in such a short period of time. I'm still not 100% into itunes. I still purchase most of my music on cd. The announcement is good for itunes and the band. It's going to help expose them to a new generation.

See, I'd buy their entire catalogue on iTunes, just to use the 30mbps free wifi I'm stuck with for the next four days....but it's $110 more in Australia than in the states...so no, thanks Apple.

My son (8 years old) is a total Beatles fan !
He plays the drum and he wants to become Ringo Starr :D
When his teacher asked him a list of 5 songs he wanted to work, he made a list with 5 Beatles songs ...
It's crazy, my son was born in 2002, the Beatles ended in 1970 ... but their music still finds a place in the heart of people.

The Beatles is the still biggest band in the world
