I got ahold of a few Beatles albums five or so years back and didn't think much of them (besides the song "A Day in the Life", I really liked that one). I suppose now is as good as a time as any to go back and see if my tastes have changed.

My son (8 years old) is a total Beatles fan !
He plays the drum and he wants to become Ringo Starr :D
When his teacher asked him a list of 5 songs he wanted to work, he made a list with 5 Beatles songs ...
It's crazy, my son was born in 2002, the Beatles ended in 1970 ... but their music still finds a place in the heart of people.

The Beatles is the still biggest band in the world

My daughter is 6 years old and plays bass. She loves playing Beatles songs and she is as obsessed with them as I am. Her first concert was this last summer to see Paul McCartney. Their impact is still going for sure.

Call me wierd but I never liked the Beatles. Yes a few songs are great, but for the most part, not interesting to me.

OK you are wierd:p Just J/K because everyone is unique in what they like.

I love the Beatles always have, and well know will download some to an ipod I recieved for my birthday that is just gathering dust, I really need to embrace new techno stuff:eek:

But yea everyone taste in music varies, I for one really don not like the Rolling Stones, out of their entire catelogue I could put together maybe an album and a half of stuff I like.

Anyways back on topic cool:)

That is really cool. Some stuff just crosses generations. I love to hear that.

I always liked the Beatles. I never really got into John's solo work though. Not sure why. Paul's solo work after the Beatles took some time to grow on me -- but I appreciate his stuff quite a bit these days.

I started as a Monkees fan. But as I got older (high school) really appreciated the Beatles and started getting into them more. As a senior project in my music class, I did the whole "Paul is dead" phenominum. I took a reel to reel and recorded number 9. I then reversed the reels, flipped the tape and played the whole recording backwards to present the finale of my project to the class.

I especially like songs that Ringo sings...as I am able to sing them. My son and I did Help from my Friends last spring at a small concert. Fun stuff.

Well, I think we have to arrange a meeting between your daughter and my son (a 6 years old bassist with an 8 years old drummer :D).
When will you go to Paris for holidays ?

The Beatles are HUGE. Even today. The following was shot in August of this year (2010). I heard a noise in the next room, realized what was going on, and got out my phone. (You'll need to turn up the volume quite a bit.):

The back story, in case anyone is interested. The kids were prohibited from playing any more video games that day...but they wanted to play "Guitar Hero". So they grabbed their things from in front of the TV and moved them into the bedroom. And this is the result.

I was barely old enough to remember The Beatles, right around the time they broke up. My first "favorite song" ever was "Hey Jude."

The Beatles coming to iTunes is a fantastic development, one that I've been waiting YEARS to see. Congratulations to both Apple and The Beatles. Now, I'm off to do some downloading. :D

My father liked the early Beatles stuff. So, that was always something that was with me when I grew up. I later appreciated them for their wide-ranging influence and for what they did for music--on an intellectual level mostly. There was just something about the more aggressive and more spacey stuff that followed--Hendrix, the Stones, Led Zep, Pink Floyd--that touched me more. Granted, I'm sure much of that later stuff might never have happened were it not for The Beatles. I appreciate them more for that than for anything else. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I don't like them. I just preferred other things. That being said, I went ahead and downloaded the iTunes boxset, mostly for convenience and for the video stuff. I had always meant to complete my collection of Beatles stuff. This way, I got to do it with one click and get some bonus material.

My brother in law has got one of the bigger beatles collections i scandinavia. He even got a Beatle wig in the original cover that you could buy in the stores in those days. I think he got a couple of thousand vinyl records and some. My mother went to see Beatles in Stockholm in 1964 and I always thought that was so cool.

Have a nice day everyone!

how the Beatles stayed in time and in tune with all that noise and what seems to be little foldback is really remarkable.
