Having spent most of my time on this board on the guitar side, I knew it was a mistake to stray into the bass section late one night recently. :D

Now I've just taken delivery of a 4H Bongo in Lava Pearl, courtesy of fellow forumite PaulC - great guy to deal with by the way - thanks mate!

Unlike my guitars, I'm not one to chop and change my basses - I've only had 4 bass guitars since I started playing in 1983, and never more than one owned at a time.

Being well and truly bitten by the EBMM bug, and not being happy with my recorded bass tones recently, that late night visit to the bass forum here went from a cursory glance at some of the bongo threads to spotting one for sale here in the UK and then I find myself quite bewildered and holding a 4H in my hands :D

I am well and truly blown away by this bass. Some new super slinkys, a little setup and instantly I am getting the bass sound I was looking for - punchy and tight. I can see that it will take me a little while to work my way through all of the tone combinations, there's just so much versatility in there. Amazing.

Great neck, very comfortable to play and what a sound from that single H.

No opportunities here in Scotland to see and play a Bongo before, so I had to go out on a limb in buying without ever trying one, but knowing how great EBMM guitars are it wasn't too much of a risk. Now I know it was definitely the right decision.

Congrats, Starsky! It appears that PaulC took really good care of that Bongo.

I'm guitarist with a Bongo 4H on order. I also wanted mine for recording puposes, so I know just what you're talking about.

Glad so see it's gone to a good home (I don't miss it yet ;) ).

I have made a decision to clear out pretty much all my basses apart from the 3 remaining Bongos, and then order an HH or HS piezo/lined fretless.

What a great review you have written on the Bongo H.

Enjoy it. You are right you don't go very far out on the limb by purchasing one of these without playing it ahead of time.

What color is that one again? Very hot. :D

I know Jack's shown me before but how many color combos are there to choose from? Just when I think I've seen them all something new pops up like this one!

Thanks azzy, guess I read the first post too fast and just wanted to get to the pics!

Almost looks like it would taste like cherry doesn't it?

Starsky...You are a real man now....you play a single H....

You know, I do feel more manly now :D

Thanks for the kind words everyone, this sure is a sweet Bongo.

Please tell me I'm not going to want to add more of them!

The pics make the color look a bit darker than it is in reality, but Lava Pearl sure looks the business.
