Hmm...Couple questions.

-Why is shipping costing you $150?

-Is it really true that JP Guitar Warrenty is only for 1 year????? So how about other EBMM guitars?

Ain't no way you spent $150 to ship that guitar. I've shipped more than once to SLO and it costs me about $40 from NY. You whined about this over at JP's site too. Also, how have you got $3000 into that instrument? Three years ago a loaded Pet might have set you back about $1600 so why is yours almost double?

Were there any new "climate" problems thaat started this December? In all seriousness. I noticed that you said you're a student, did you move? change dorms? The main reason I ask is that even a 10K acoustic guitar can/will get completely messed up if it undergoes harsh/drastic climate changes. Even leaving it next to forced air heating system or stuff like that can cause serious damage to wood....

as for Ernie Ball Music Man, they are a great company please don't let this one issue; where ever fault may lie; tarnish your perception of the crew.

and your 1year warranty.... sorry dude, but that should have been something you knew about and understood from day 1, no fault on their part.

I do hope you can get it figured out though.

:(

i dont see the point in venting on the forum, lets wait to see what the EBMM guys say. Surely this can be resolved peacefully. My advice is to keep up a mature attitude from here on, you will do yourself no favours in coming off as an ass and embarrassing yourself. Be patient, and see what happens.

By the way, ALL of my guitars suffered greatly here in Australia over the past 2 months, where we've had extreme heat. The other day i went to pick one up, and i noticed all of them had their strings flat to the fingerboard. Just a quick truss adjustment and all was fine.

Metro....first off, go kill the person who charged you $150 to ship it to SLO. I know for a fact, it does not cost that much. I have sent guitars Fed-Ex for a third of that price. There are people on this forum who have bought guitars from me who can tell you that. So, I would be mad about that first off.

Next, I am not so sure of the guitar tech at the Guitar Hospital. I don't know him and can't comment on that.

I do find it hard to believe that you got an answer of "Well you know wood's natural, there's like pores and stuff." Maybe you could elaborate on that better....just does not seem like an answer from EBMM. I know for a fact that their Customer Service is top notch if anything...it is the BEST in the business. I know Dan personally, just does not sound like an answer he would have given you.

Yes, there is a one year warranty. That is the way it is. I don't set the rules, but they are what they are. It is not EB's responsibility to call everyone to explain the warranty with you. That is up to your dealer. So, your dealer should have addressed that with you at the time. Yes, I have had a neck replaced and yes, I paid for it. Just the way it is.

I understand the college situation. I have been there done that. It is not the end of the world. I will let others elaborate and I am sure someone from EBMM will come on here and elaborate.

Keep in mind, those that come on here can help you...be respectful and you might be surprised. Hope it works out for you.

I understand your frustration. I am not sure that coming on here like this is going to solve or rectify the situation. You did get solid advice on the fact that wood is porous and it does shift. There can be a myriad of things attributing to the unfortunate situation. I am sorry you are having to deal with this and it is obviously frustrating. Truss rod, string tension, string gauge, tuning, underconditioned neck and fretboard, extreme weather conditions/humidity, keeping it on a stand all the time, there are a plethora of reasons necks shift. I wouldn't think it is Ernie Ball not wanting to give you an answer, in all truth, they can't. They can merely speculate. I am sure an amicable outcome can be achieved.

$150 shipping a guitar to SLO is ridiculous. Unless it was transported in a armor car. I'd say you got ripped off on shipping. For me to FedEx a guitar from here (Chicago) to SLO it cost a max of $35 with insurance at $1500

We can all understand why you would be upset about this; it's your only guitar, and you have spent a lot of money, not only in purchasing the guitar but all of the other expenses along the way. One thing about this forum... just calm down, think about what you say, and ask for help. I can guaruntee you someone will have some good advice. Yeah, you might get a flaming from some people for this, maybe your thread locked, but it happens to us all at some point. Just remember, this isn't a perfect world, and even with a company as great as Ernie Ball, they are human and will make mistakes here and there.

No problem is insurmountable, so keep your chin up and you will get your guitar back eventually. All of us will give you as much advice as we can, but you have to let us and not come out shooting like that.

I didn't mean to come off as an , but I'm really frustrated right now just because of how long it's going to take me before I can have a guitar in my possession. When I took the guitar to the tech for the first time, he fixed it up and it was sharper than ever. He said it just needed a truss-rod adjustment and the bridge needed the right amount of tension. Could it have been his fault for not telling me to send it in to the manufacturer the first time? He completely blamed this on Ernie Ball and I trusted his word because of how awesome the guitar sounded and felt after he did the setup. He told me it was pretty ridiculous to buy a neck from Ernie Ball when I could buy a replica neck for half the price. I have no idea what to do, and I don't like blaming people. This is just a messed up situation.

I don't understand why you feel you have been screwed over. Your guitar has a one year warranty from the date of purchase to the original owner. Did you read the hang tags that have the warranty info? Next, AJ is not the repair guy. I am. The neck on your JP is backbowed. The neck is made of wood. Wood can shift and move years after it was made into whatever you make out of wood, including guitars. It doesn't always happen, but sometimes it does. When the guitars and basses leave the factory, they are as close to perfect as we humans can make them. We have no control over what the wood does after the guitars leave the factory.

Im the guy who can help.
Start by not exagerating.....$150 shipping, $3,000,

Stop blaming us...two months without your guitar...we just got it.
Dont say that we are untrustworthy and "screwed you over"

Also your tech at guitar hospital may be the next best thing to squeeze bottle ketchup
but him to suggest that you buy a third party neck is a comment that makes his stature immediately diminish.

Here is why we cannot blanketly exend the warranty to whenever you need it. I have no idea how the dealer handled your guitar...I really have no idea how you have treated it too. How long should our warranty be? realize that the longer the warranty the higher the price.....

Now if you want to start over and see where that gets you?

My stepdad told me it was $150 to ship it, flat out. I thought it was insane too but that's what he told me. By $3,000 I was talking about how much I've invested in the guitar overall - sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm simply being thrown back and forth between tech and company and the tech blames the company while the company blames the tech. All I know is that I know of many people who've had a JP model for as long as I have if not longer, and they haven't encountered this problem at all. I've never encountered this problem with any of my other guitars either.

Do you keep your guitars in a room with a humidifier?

If not there is your problem. Now I know not everyone does that but. That is the only way to make sure this doesn't happen.

The original poster has been offered an olive branch, my hope is that he takes it, recants on the stretching and bitching and get down to realistic solutions. I wil stick my neck out here and say if he does that, I would be willing to bet a fair solution is reached.

Hey Met,

The boss of all EBMM bosses has heard you and repair guy of all repair guys is on the case now. I suggest you sit back, relax and let them figure out what's wrong, and the best way to handle it.

Name another guitar compay where you get this kind of response and hands on service, bottom line, you can't.
