Okay, we all have guitars that we'd always wanted to play. Those ones that were just "omg, I want one so bad" etc. You do research into every aspect. Price, cosmetic options and all that other stuff.

I, just today, had my first opportunity to play one of such guitars. I've always loved everything about them but I'd never actually played one. Not an EBMM, mind you. So I get it from the back shelf behind the registers (expensive, but not as expensive as I expected), and take it over to the Mesa section of the store, because those are what I'm familiar with.

Already, when I sit down with it... There's something wrong:eek:. The neck feels sticky, because of the finish I'm not used to, the action's too high (adjustable, but still) and overall, it feels so light I just get the impression it's not built all that well, even though I'm sure it is.

I plug it in, go through all the pickup combinations, etc. Nothing. No "spark". I just don't feel this guitar. Now, it's akin to seeing a beautiful girl at school or whatever and talking to her the first time and having her speak to you in an alarmingly manly and gruff voice (Rough assumption :p).

I had my JP7 with me at the time, because I was there mainly for amps. I take it out of the case. It just fits too well. Everywhere out there, there are people loyal to other companies for different reasons. I've gotta say; EBMM is definitely for me. I have still yet to find a rival in terms of just all the things I am taking for granted from my JP models. The finish, the build quality, the NECK, the balance, the tone. Everything.

And that's my 2 cents.

I feel the same way about EBMM!

And this is funny.

Cool dude, glad you know what you love.

I'm curious though, how do you feel about the finished BFR necks?

Yeah, not a fan, to be honest. I'll stick with the originals, as odd as they may seem to some. The quickness is just unparalleled.

I've had the same experience. One of my oldest buds bought the guitar we have been drooling over for close to 15 years. Jumped in my car, raced over, played it and thought "no way I'ld ever take this over my Silo". Jealousy gone ;). Still happy for him though ;).

Strange feeling...

I tell you what, I am no fan of finished necks.

BUT - I have to say that on the BFR JP6 I had was phenomenal.

Seemed to me that a finished EBMM neck was FASTER feeling and playing than the unfinished neck. You have to play this to understand it.

This is precisely why I had a custom build made. It's featuring specs i cannot get with any EBMM (simply because they don't make it), BUT it does have the same neck dimensions and profile of my fav guitar: The Silhouette Special.

After all my other guitars, the Silo Spec still feels like home. The custom build is meant to be a culmination of all the fav things of all my guitars. the most prominent feature is the neck carve.:D

It's also why I went to Tokyo looking to buy a Suhr, but coming back with a Candy Red Silo Spec. Hahahhahaa...

yep ive tried the guitar nils tried . (he sent me a pm with the model :)) and i felt the same about it. but iv had similar experiences with a lot of guitars ive looked at and said "i want one of those" then ive tried it. even just dry without the amp and thought no point in even plugging this in . its not for me. and this is with guitars in the £2000-40000 price range.
i never really got the chance to try a musicman before i got my axis. and the day i got it i said "i want ANOTHER one of those" guess thats why im here :)

colin unfortunatley the chance of me trying a bfr where i live is slim to none.
u may be right but i cant afford to take a punt with that amount of money . not when i love the originals so much. not unless my numbers come up on the weekend ;)

I'm with you. Over the course of the last 2 years I have bought and sold 3 EBMM's and sold off ALL of my other guitars.

EBMM is all I play now.
