Yeah, I did try another cable(but not the wet socks  ) I play on an unfinished basement floor with shoes on. I do have a surge that my equipment is plugged into, and the Marshall is plugged into a different one than the v amp. One thing, my house is around 30 years old and still has copper wiring, which I am told has not been used for years. The home inspector said it was a concern, but not a major one. Maybe he was wrong. Merry Christmas+Happy Channukah, BTW.

My hose is really old and the wiring...well lets just say that Phylis Dillar is crawling in and out of all the outlets...but I do find the V-Amp 2.0's Noise Gate to be really usefull, have you tried?

Yeah, I have and it works okay. I prefer to use my Boss noise suppressor, though. Excellent pedal! I was more concerned about my health than anything. I've had the Sub1 for a few weeks now and I still can't put it down for long. If I ever do put better pickups in it, I might have to have it surgically removed!

I played some more yesterday. I found some sounds I can live with. Maybe I've just been spoiled playing a guitar with EMG's for the last 6 years. It gets all the sounds I want straight into my JCM800 without much effort. Maybe I'm just not used to working at it! I'm not used to all of the hum, either. The pickups are very noisy. I've been playing long enough to know not to stand in front of my amp when not playing. These things are even noisy thru my V-amp2. A constant Strat-like buzz. It seems kind of weird to me...

I've been tossing arounf the idea of getting a sub1 lately. I'm mostly a bassist but play the guitar too and it looks like i'll be playing the 6 string in my next band. I already have a PRS and a Les Paul w/ EMG's ... they both sound great ... PRS does punk/rock well & the Les Paul does metal well (due to the EMG's im sure) but I want an axe that can do them both w/o tweaking the amp. So ... I was thinking that since I'm searching for a new guitar I should get an EB so I can still hang out in the forum :)

So anyways ... ya. I was wondering which of the EBMM guitars could best get me a sound like the band Strung Out (can get good punk malm mute sound but the be able to dish out some Maiden like tones during single note riffs). I was thinking that maybe a sub1 with a duncan JB, but ive been reading that the Silo is pretty versetile too.
