Has anyone noticed any staying in tune problems with their JPM guitar? Mine is fine in standard "E", but doesn't wanna stay tuned 1/2 step lower in "Eb". It gets sharp, creeps up towrd "E"...
And the Low "E" gets sharp when I "D"-tune it... Please advise...Thanx!

Well, I have a couple ideas (note: I'm not a pro guitar tech nor do I play one on television :D )...

The Petrucci neck is pretty slim, and probably pretty sensitive to changes in string tension and environment. If you're going from E to Eb tuning, I imagine you would pretty much have to allow the neck a few days to adjust. By tuning down a half step, you are significantly reducing the string tension on the neck, this would see the neck "flatten" (ie: reduce relief) if you do not reduce the tension on the truss rod slightly. The effect of this would be that the guitar's tuning would tend to "go sharp" over a period of time... I would imagine that this should work itself out over a couple days time, but if you notice some buzzing in the 5 to 9 fret range, you'll have to tweak the truss rod ("lefty loosey") to bring some relief back into the neck...

For making your nut slick I found that nothing works better than mixing graphite with just enough vasoline to make it gooey. It also works good on that thing on your guitar near the tuning pegs:D
