I was wondering if that "birthday boy" comment was directed at The Dude b/c I remember back when Jack and Steve used to debate about the Bongo on the Pit forum. I won't say everything I remember Dude saying back then...

This is weird...I remember Jack first became a moderator on this board. I was a member of the old Dude Pit back when (before it changed to the new setup) but then I kinda went away for a while and got involved in the band I was playing in. Now that I'm back to visiting the two forums more often it's just funny...funny how everything has changed.

Jack got the Custom Bongo presented by Sterling.

It's just wild how things have progressed and evolved.

There have been some rather interesting developments.

One of the coolest, to me, is how many members of this board (and the Pit, too, really) now know each other in person. Open House was beyond belief. I'm not yet tired of hearing about it, either!

I'm starting to feel REALLY sorry that I was away from this board for a while. I don't know if I could have afforded to go to SLO...but I would have loved to have known this was going on. Maybe I could have made it happen. Do you know if this sort of event will happen again?

Again? Who knows? Maybe BP will weigh in. My opinion is probably not, at least not on the same level as this one. Everyone, from Sterling to the engineers to the customer service people to the guys running the buffers, I mean EVERYONE worked hard (hi Aziah! hi Derek!) to make this event unique. And I think it was a textbook, dictionary example of the word "unique".

Besides however many millions BP spent on food and venues and special chocolate bars for the rock stars, things just lined up properly. For something this big, there were really very few bumps in the road and everyone got along well and I don't think anyone went to jail.

There may well be some kind of Open House event again, someday in the future, but it won't be on the same scale IF it happens.
