Thanks Brad! That single H is the one that I bought from forum member Ritchie Darling - and it's a great bass, the best player of the Bongos.

It's so hard to talk about tone, but I'll give it a try....

I really don't play it a lot because of it's rarity, but I am seriously considering buying another SR4HS just so that I can play one because it's that good.

The thing that SR4 has going for it that the Bongos don't is the ability to quickly change to 5 different useable tones. I'm not saying that the Bongos aren't versatile, but they take a bit more time to dial in each tone whereas with the SR4 you just flip the switch. If I could buy a Bongo with a 5 way rotary switch instead of the pan pot I would.

As far as the tone is concerned position 1 is the classic SR4 tone. Position 2 is one coil of the humbucker - it sounds a bit thinner - about like you'd expect when you drop to just one coil in the bridge position. Position 3 is all 3 coils on - this one is very big and full. The addition of the neck coil makes for a really fat sound - one of my faves. Positon 4 is one of the bridge coils and the neck single coil. This one is my other fave - it's really full with a slightly scooped tone that really cuts through nicely. Position 5 is the neck single coil. This position has a nice single coil sound to it that is nicely voiced because where the pickup is located - it sounds full with all the character that you'd expect from a single coil. Positions 1,2 &5 tend to sound a little thin in comparison to positions 3 & 4, but that's only because 3 & 4 sound so huge, not due to any deficiencies in those positions.

I hope all that makes sense.

I think that BP and Co. have hit a home run with these dual pickup Stingrays. I love the HS, and I'm certain that the HH is just as cool.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks guys!

That Buttercream has one of the nicest fretboards that I've seen. Steevo got a good pic of it -

And yet the pic doesn't seem to do it justice.
