watched a James Brown Show last night...was really groovin on how cool he always was and how timeless and influental his rhythm section was. Rest well Godfather.......

here is the closest I got to him...This was on a golf trip to Augusta and on the way to the airport I saw this statue and insisted that we take a photo......

Golfing buddies from what Poppa's said in the past, as well as close friend.

Great pic BP! :)

As for our departed soulbrother; RIP man! I'm sure that heaven is a hell of a lot funkier since you arrived!

James Brown's dentist was right down the street from my office here in Atlanta. Every 6-8 months, or so, I'd see a limo parked out front with "GODFATHER" on the front plates.

I've been blasting the JB's for the last week, or so.

RIP James.

He's right up there for 'most influential' -- hip hop comes straight from James, and funk, and ....

There was a great article last year in bass player about all the bassists in his band, and how they all got hired, and fired, and hired .... he had two bass players at some points.

RIP James!

I never got tired of the routine where he'd fall to his knees, the guy would throw a cape over him and start walking him off the stage, only to have James throw off the cape and run back to the mic...

I love that bit.

I heard that near the end, he said, "I feel BAD", but no one really bought it.

(Sorry.)

JB on CD was rockin' Camp Bovine last weekend.
