He used EBMM's on the Labrie solo album, Elements of Persuasion in 2005. He borrowed them from John to record. Since then, he has been endorsed by Rash, but does use EB strings.

Ah the video was from Ep..I was wrong, I got mixed up...sorry

Static impulse has some good riffs/moments, but I feel it's very straight forward IMHO.

on my player, the play count goes between 42 and 24 times. it's exactly because it's straight forward, i think it's gonna do good with ppl who're tired of overthought music. i needed a break from ultraprog anyway.

I saw an interview somewhere (I think blabbermouth) where JLB metioned he wanted the record to be more straightforward and song-like than Dream Theater. It certainly is that. It's a small breath of fresh air for me. The music is good, but not overwhelming. You just listen to it without having to critique every note.

Yeah. The straight-forwardness of this album is what really appeals to me. Great playing from the band though. And James rocks on these albums! Much better than Mullmuzzler!

I didn't mean it like that. There are very "straight forward" records that rule every single time I play them. I just didn't feel the vibe in this record, of course this is only my sole and humble opinion. I'm sure it will do well! And certainly hope so.

With that said, mislead, euphoric and this is war are my fave tunes.

^well, it's not like i took it like that, but after a week of DT, i get tired of it all. i DO think it's a very straightforward album, very radio like. of course, if i weren't bored with DT right now, it might like it less.

FWIW Marco's Rash guitars were based heavily from his EBMM JP6, he even said so in an interview.

Elements of Persuasion was a great album for me as well - James's voice and Marco's playing were stellar. Yeah, the drum recording sounded like a drum computer, but You can't have it all.

Static Impulse, on the other hand, is a bit different - the recording quality deffinitely is better, James is amazing again, BUT I hate the growling. Obviously, if it's worth doing it's not always worth overdoing... If it was used wisely as a nuance to stress out certain angry elements it would be just great, but it doesn't fit 90% of the record where it is used now.

So, I'd love to see them on tour this time, but with another drummer :)
