I was mixing sound for a friend's band rehearsal tonight. Another friend and his band were rehearsing down the hall and their bass player, who I don't really know but have heard and IMO is a monster player, was apparently having some technical problems with his James Tyler 5 that he paid like $4k for.

So my friend asked if they could use my SR5 to rehearse with. I gave him the "I'm serious as hell" look and said "You know if anything happens to my bass I might do something unimaginable". He gave me his word that nothing would happen and brought it over to his rehearsal.

About 20 minutes later, I broke away from my rehearsal to check on my baby. I stood in the back and watched for about 30 minutes or so. The guy never stopped smiling, and he's not one of those guys that just smiles the whole time he plays. Every time he reached down to adjust the eq or pickup switch, his grin would get bigger. It sounded great and he knew it. I didn't get a chance to talk to him afterwards, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an EBMM in his arsenal sometime soon.

I recently bought a Tyler 4 because I'd heard so much about them. My HH Sterling smoked the Tyler, so it's up on ebay.
