Hi everyone..I have some pretty huge news...I shall be performing at the BBC's Last Night of the Proms, at the Proms in the Park at Londons Hyde Park, with legendary Queen Guitarist Brian May. Brian has been working with an amazing singer call Kerry Ellis, who was one of the original cast of We Will Rock You, and was also in Wicked in the West End in London and also Broadway in New York, plus countless other shows. Brian has produced, and also performed on her debut album Athems, which is out on Decca Records. I have toured Europe twice with Kerry in Champions of Rock, and have also worked as one of the main dep Guitarists on We Will Rock You in London for the past four years, as well as also perorming on the We Will Rock You UK tour. She suggested me to Brian, he came down, watched me play the show, and then we met after and he offered me the gig!!..We start rehearsals next week. We will be onstage at 8pm, and live on BBC TV and Radio..so be sure to see my EBMM's in action with one of the biggest names in Rock Guitar...Plus me on the biggest gig of my life!!
I am also in the current issue of the Japanse Magazine Young Guitar. You can see me performing songs off my album on the DVD with my battle worn main Axis Supersport..I also demo the new range of Blackstar Pedals. I also have just had a huge 5 page feature on my guitar collection shot for an up and coming issue of Guitar and Bass magazine, which is a UK magazine, but also available in the States. Its a big feature, with lovely pictures of my entire collection of electric guitars, which is maily Musicman, plus an interview with me talking about the guitars!!..
Finally...more Lick Library stuff on the way, I will have a very exciting piece of news soon, but its a little hush hush...also my new website has just been launched..Its still a work in progress, but please stop by Jamie Humphries - UK Guitarist
Anyway..thats all for now..all the best Jamie Humphries :D

LOL Steve...yes most of my mates have made that joke...Its kind of funny, because Brian is pretty tall, over 6ft, but so am i...I'm nearly 6"7", just shy, so opposites lol!!....Maybe I'll get a wig LMAO!!!!

Yeah I am pretty excited...Brian is the reason I play..when Bohemiam Rhapsody was #1, I was about 4 or 5...we use to visit my grand parents in London every Sunday, and when my late grandmother made supper, I would mine the guitar so to her while it was on the top 40 chart count down....early sunday eve on radio 1,....I would use a chopping board that had a handle and you could hold as a guitar LOL!!!...I would mine the solo to her...then, I started for real at 5....I would watch him in the TV in the video to the song....that white outfit, all the smoke and his curly lead, and be like..I WANNA DO THAT...like Brian was some comic book super hero!!...thats how it made me feel, and that why I have dedicated my entire life to doing it...and he is the reason I started..so for me this is like WOW..

Its a huge honour to be doing it...Jamie Humphries

Way to go Jamie and hope you have a blast. I have been a huge Queen fan all my life and can remember like it was yesterday the first concert I ever saw, Queen with Thin Lizzy as the opening act in 76 at Madison Square Garden at the age of 14.

Brian is such a well respected player but sometimes I feel people do not get how important a player he is. We all know the saying about certain players having such a distinct tone that you know who is playing by just one note, well it would be hard pressed to find a player that statement pertains to more than May, as he truly has one of the most original and distinct tones on the planet. He also is a master at layering guitar parts that gave them a sound that was so unique, as any Queen fan would remember they always had -No Synthersizers were used- printed on their albums. He also was one of the first of a handful of rock players that incorporated scales other than pentatonics in his soloing.

I do not know what kind of set list you guys will be using but it would be great to do away with a lot of the hits of which you can fill two CDs with lol, and rip on some of the heavier early stuff like- Ogre Battle, Brighton Rock, Stone Cold Crazy, Death on Two Legs, Keep Yourself Alive- boy I could just keep going on.

On a different note I will be looking forward to checking out you layout in Guitar and Bass of which I am a regular reader and the Private Collection feature that follows the Phil Harris-Hooked on Classics is my favorite in the mag.By the way is there a piece of gear that guy does not own.lol And finally you and the guys at Licklibrary do a tremendous job to make it the best guitar site on the web. I have been a member from the beginning and have learned 70% of what theory I know from you guys, that I feel like I know some of you personally.lol

Yea I agree with you 100%...brian's tone is amazing..when we met at We Will Rock You last week...I was using my Brian May guitar, (sorry guys..no EBMM allowed at the show...we have to use a BM guitar due to the switching it can achieve getting the tones for the Queen songs in the show...Brian and Roger are my bosses there!!)...He asked me what gauge strings I use..as he said my tone was big..I told him i use 10-52..then he asked if he could play my guitar!!!..there I was with Brian may playing licks on my guitar...He uses his first finger alot to pluck the notes...he has a light touch..but as soon as he played it was so distictive!!...I sooooo wanted to get my iphone out and take a pic..I'll never forget that moment...I cant say anything about the set...but the band isnt a Queen/Brian may thing..its Kerry Ellis and Brian May, so we are promoting the material off of their album..Roger Taylors young son Ruffuss is on drums...I WILL be using an EBMM at this Hyde Park gig..so dont you guys worry...Not sure wich one..but my betting is on either Old Faithfull, my beat up battle scared Super Sport, the one with the Black DiMarzio's, or my Black Silo Special...Thanks for your kind comments about Lick Library...I get alot of people saying they feel they know us..i am glad we come across that relaxed and natural...I have just this week finished a new Def Leppard DVD...I used my Black Silo Special for the entire filming session..sounded GREAT...Cheers Jamie H

That is EPIC!
Brian is one of my biggest heros. I'm truly stoked for you Jamie, if not a tad jealous ;):p

It was only last weekend I dusted off the record player and listened to A Night at the Opera... Twice.. Back to back! Queen and Brian have such an amazing body of work and it still stands so strong, even today. Congrats Jamie, can't wait to hear all about it :)
