Jamie I got one question for you

Which guitar are you going to bring with you for the gig with Brian May? any chance for you to swap guitars during the gig so we can get a nice picture of Brian with an EBMM ;)

Brian will tell you that red special was made with his dad you can tell him yours were made by Big Poppa :)

WOW! Talk about opportunity!
Congrats Jamie!
Definitely a well deserved memory coming your way.

When Brian asked to play your guitar, you should have said no. Then waited a moment for his facial expression, snapped a pic then hand him the guitar. ;)

:D And Big Poppa sure does make great guitars...There wont be any guitar swapping during the gig..sorry..but I'll try and get a pic of me with the Red Special, and Brian holding "Old Faithfull"...haha...I just noticed..his guitar is called "the old girl", and it looks like mine now has a name!!....

As to other questions...no he didnt use a metal pick..he just used his first finger!! He uses a six pence piece...I spoke to one of his techs this week...as one of Brian's guitar techs will be looking after me..he told me Brian has gone up from 8-38'sto 9-42's, due to the fact that the lighter strings didnt last with the six pence piece...I did gig all last weekend with a rock band in London who tune down by a half step..nothing unusual there...but I still found that my 10-52's felt floppy in Eb tuning..I am so use to the tighter tension...so now in Eb I am using 11-54!!...they sound amazing! If you tune that way check out the EB Beefy Slinkys..
Once again thanks for all of your encouraging comments... Jamie H

He was on around 9ish so hopefully you caught it. If not there's always the repeats on BBC iplayer. Having sat through a load of opera (not my thing) it was great to hear some top caliber rock music... great set, obviously Brian May and Kerry got the limelight but there was a good few shots of Jamie and his Axis Supersport. :)

Expect a full report J!

Hi guys...just want to say thank you very much for all of your kind and encouraging posts....I feel proud to be a Knucklehead..also I want to thank Stirling, Derek, Brian and Dudley, and everyone else at Ernie Ball Musicman, and not forgetting Pete, Nick, Mark Ray and Alan at Strings and Things UK for their continuing support....All the guys in the EBMM family really go above and beyond when it comes to supporting me in my musical ventures...I have been an endorsee of EBMM since 1997, and could'nt imagine playing anything else...I felt proud standing in front of 40,000 plus in Hyde Park, not to mention the several million who watched live on TV, holding my old faithfull Supersport...It was such an experience to play with such a legend..Brian was a total gent to work with, and really encouraged me in rehearsals and at the show...I was totally aware of who I was playing for, and made an effort not to over play and get in his way...but Brian kept telling me to play more...he also totally loved my Supersport..loved the look and design, and thought that the sound complimented his sound very very well...I also got to play his original Red Special...the one he and his father made!!...I have had quite alot of contact with Brian since the show, and am waiting to hear if we are doing some more shows, so fingers crossed...I have posted some youtube videos of our performance, although they havent been copied well by who ever did them and the quality is not great..but at least you can see the size of the gig!!...anyway, back to practising as i am off to Sweden Monday for an Arena tour with a Queen tribute called Champions of Rock...Neil Murray of Whitesnake, Black sabbath, Brian May band and also Queen is on bass for the tour, so i cant wait...see ya all soon Jamie H
