I think the pickup rings are cool. They're not the typical 4-screw squares that most guitars have on them. Same ones as the 20th Silo, And I thouht those were pretty kick-ass.

I like this guitar! Taking the Axis in a new direction by improving on what is IMHO the best guitar ever built. i had switched to Silo Specials because of the lack of a forearm contour on the Axis. Now I might come running back, money in hand.

I'm really interested in what the controls are going to be. If it's the two hums and a three way, I'm totally sold. As good as all of its parts are, even if it stays in the config that BP is showing, it'll be sweet. That guitar will decimate all!!!!

I'm guessing it's a 3 way switch and a series/parallel/single toggle. It might be a 5 way though, with inside coils and outside coils in positions 2 and 4. Although those positions could be achieved with the toggle and the 3-way blade.

BTW is the body Alder+Toneblock like the 20th Silo or Basswood+Toneblock like the BFR Axis? I guess it's the second.

Wow. I'm a Silo fan primarily, but I'll eagerly be watching for this one! I find it simply amazing how EBMM keeps the fans "in the loop." Way to go!

Awesome looking pics BP, thanks for sharing. When do we start signing up for these? ;)

I'm interested in that extra toggle as well. Something like Morse style switching as mentioned with a 3-way knife and inner/series/outer toggle, or a five way with preamp mojo like PRS is using, or ...? At any rate, thanks again for posting these BP! Can't wait to see some more pics!

That's a cool mash-up. Gorgeous actually. And that 20th Silhouette above is...to die for. I can't wait to see the final details of the 25th. I'm getting excited and my bank account is getting nervous :)

I'm just waiting to see what the final guitar looks like.

The great thing about being here is that you get to see some awesome sneak previews. I love watching the concept turn into a reality and looking at the subtle tweaks that take place along the way.

I think sometimes in our enthusiasm, we get a little too excited and start to throw around all sorts of suggestions or comments, which is all done with the best of intentions, but BP has asked us to hold fire on it. I think the post was in the bass 25th preview thread, so I'll try and dig it out, because he phrases it better than I can.

<edit: Here it is :edit>

Anyway, let's all enjoy following the process as it moves along.

OK Let me tell you about my day.....Flew to SLO and my head got clogged....Not real good when you are evaluating new instruments...(expecially when you have severe hearling loss from ignoring the warnings about playing loud as a kid) But my ears popped and I had a really good time. This is the cherry on the sundae for me...watching ideas percolate and come to something new and I think great......

We are also on to some really neat switching where you can get 15 different pickup settings. We spent a lot of time narrowing them down.......The next proto will have a five way switch and a three way toggle with the 5 way. For each setting of the three way toggle you get 5 different positions on the 5 way. The challenge is to make it really user friendly and simple with switches you are familiar with but applications that will give you more tonal choices.

Stay tuned!

The guitar Im playing most of the day was the previously chambered wave deal. It sounded so good and was real light and just sang. It was interesting because I thinkwithout the tone block this would not work. It had an "open" quality but with the mid focus of the tone block.

The first shot is an idea I wanted to try for a fan style chambering. We are excited by the chamber experiments and have some more to try. The problem with the first one is that the chamber routs were two wide and when we vacuum glued the top it sucked the top down where the chambers were....very slight but enough to make me have to add customer service people to assure them that all is good.

THe interesting thing is that this guitar shares the identical body as the bass....bigger guitar....slightly smaller bass. That wasnt the plan but its working well.

As for the top contour I liked it but it was like a reclining chair that just doesnt go back far enough so they are increasing the radius.

Wild! Man that looks like fun. I like how they're trying different necks in there too (I guess the Luke and Axis necks have the same heel size). Wonder how it's all going to turn out ...
